From our special correspondent in Hejamady

Udupi: UK-based Gastroenterologist Dr K S Samsheer, son of community leader K S Shekhabba and Ayesha of Hejamady in the undivided DK district has been accorded the Fellow of Royal College of Physicians recognition by the Royal College of Physicians.  He is one of the youngest to be granted the honour.

He completed MBBS in the Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore in 1996. After internship, he pursued higher education in the UK. He has had advanced training in video capsule endoscopy, which involves the patients' swallowing capsules containing minute cameras which relay pictures from the body interior to the doctors' desk.

This method has gained popularity in tracing intestinal ailments. Dr Samsheer's achievements in this field have earned him the FRCP recognition. Having hailed from a small village and made it big at the international level, he says that education is the best investment for a person and it is the proper way for the success of the future generations.

Dr Samsheer has contributed research write-ups to several medical journals and delivered lectures at many seminars.
