Udupi: The inauguration ceremony of Student Union Council (2012-13) of St Mary's College, Shirva was held here on Friday, June 6, 2012. The Council was inaugurated by Prof. Sadhashiva Rao, Principal of Poorna Prajna college, Udupi. Correspondent of the institution Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro presided over the function.
The programme began with a beautiful prayer sung by the Students backed by a melodious band, thereby adding a perfect tune for it. Mr. Chandresh, President of the Student Union Council welcomed the guests and the gathering.


















Roseline Lasrado, Joint Secretary of the council introduced the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony Prof. Sadhashiva Rao to the students. The Council was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Prof. Sadhashiva Rao followed by Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Correspondent of the college, Dr. J.C Miranda Principal of the College and Prof. Vincent Dsouza, Director of Students Union council of the College along with office bearers on to the dais. Dr. JC Miranda, Principal of the College administered the oath to council members and honoured them with certificates.
Prof. Sadhashiva Rao in his educative speech exposed the students to the new thinking. As the corruption rate has been increased in India he gave a short overview of corruption referring to the latest media reports. As the part of his speech he gave a call to students to respect and obey the lecturers and accept them as friends. Narrating some of his work experiences he educated the students on increasing the concentration level in the class and the examination hall.
Rev. Fr. Stany in his Presidential address said that, smile is the perfect solution of every problem, and he gave a call to enjoy the college life in academics as well as in extracurricular activities. He appreciated the behavior and the conduct of the students during the entire programme.
Aaron Menezes, Secretary of the Council proposed the vote of thanks. Ashyla compered the programme. The programme conclude with the college anthem played by the college band. Taluk Panchayath President, Devdas Hebbar and Former Pastor.
