Bangalore: City's ACMM VI court on Friday, July 6 issued a non-bailable warrant against state minister for forests, ecology and environment Chakkere Puttamadegowda Yogeshwar in connection with what is famously known as the Mega City scam.
The warrant has been issued with next hearing posted to November 7. Earlier, the economic offences court had issued a summons to Yogeshwar with requirement of personal presence. Expressing serious displeasure over his failure to attend, the court issued a non-bailable warrant. The police have been ordered to arrest and produce him in court.
Yogeshwar has been charged with being behind a project for distribution of sites launched by the Mega City (Bangalore) Developers and Builders Ltd. Hundreds of land-owners have been cheated under the project, it has been alleged by the report of Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).
The report has stated that the Mega City firm promoted by Yogeshwar had fabricated 450 sale agreements and owners have been cheated to the tune of Rs 37 crore.
Interestingly, the report says, the minister has used four names for himself at different places - Chakkerepura Yogeeshwara Made Gowda, Channapatna Puttamadegowda Yogeeshwara, Yogeeshwara Chakkerepura Made Gowda and Yogeeshwara Chakkere Puttamadegowda
