Udupi: An incident in which a Leopard which was trapped in a boar snare was rescued by forest staff, has been reported from Anajru village near Hiriyadka on Saturday July 7, 2012.

Villagers  had recently placed a snare for a boar in their  fields. But the Leopard which was wandering that way on Friday night got trapped in the snare and struggled to get out, but in vain. Someone who noticed this the next morning, informed the forest staff, who along with animal experts rescued the Leopard which had become weak and sick in the snare.

Hundreds of people had gathered to witness the operation. Few days prior to this incident a lot of chicken and dogs were going missing, and it could be the act of the Leopard or the Boar. Even the dogs have been howling intensely, it has been heard.
