Madikeri: Mandalpatti is a popular tourist spot accessible from here off the road leading to Abbey falls.

A group of 14 students from a well-known Management institute from Mangalore had arrived on an excursion to Kodagu in two cars. While they were on their way back from Mandalpatti to here, they were waylaid by a gang of miscreants.

At revolver-point, they robbed a gold chain weighing 3.5 sovereign from Kaushal, one of the students. Another four joined the culprits and they are said to have assaulted others, with Pranal
getting severely injured in the face.

Two have been admitted to a hospital in Mangalore. A case has been registered in Mangalore. The police there have transferred the case to Madikeri rural police station for follow-up. The hand of Mahesh, a notorious gangster from here, has been suspected in the incident by the police.
