Shirva: ' Vanamahotsava ' programme was organised by Indian
Catholic Youth Movement, Shirva here on July 9, 2012. Mr. Manoj Menezes,
President of Uswas Association, Dubai inaugurated the' Vanamahotsava '
celebrations symbolically by handing over a plant to the sponsor of the
programme Mrs. Magdalene . Manoj Menezes, in his speech stressed the need for
planting the trees and explained the effect of global warming.
Rev. Fr. Stany in his presidential address gave a call to
Parishioners to plant more trees in order to safeguard our Mother Earth by
giving the example of church premises. After the formal programme saplings were
distributed to Parishioners. Around 200 saplings were distributed. A sapling was
planted in the church premises by Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro and ICYM members.




















Fr. Gration Alvares, Assistant Director; Fr. Naveen Dsouza,
Assistant Parish Priest; Daryl Menezes, President ; Flavin Dsouza, Secretary of
ICYM ; Irwin Dsouza, Vice President; Melwyn Aranha, Secretary of Pastoral
Council ,and others were present.

Vanamahotsava 'was held at Primary School Pamboor here on Sunday
July 7 2012. The programme was organized by Indian Catholic Youth Movement of
Pamboor Church in association with Young Star Group.
'Vanamahotsava' is not just planting the trees and leaving them to
die but the importance is to take care of it later, a school student gave a talk
on the importance of Vanamahotsava. The students and the members of ICYM planted
saplings in the school premises. Rev. Fr. Charles Lewis, Parish
Priest of Holy Cross Church, Pamboor, Herald D’mello, School Head Master,
Young Star Group president Vishnu Prasad were present, Denzil Menezes
President, and Anil, Secretary of ICYM were present. |
