Udupi: City's RTO Office Raided - Brokers in Lokayukta Net

Published Date: 09 Jul, 2012 (10:55 PM)

From Michael Rodrigues, Team Mangalorean

Udupi: The Lokayukta Police team from Mangalore and Udupi, raided the Regional Transport Offices (RTO) on July 8.

Three brokers belonging to the regional transport offices (RTO) today were trapped in the Lokayukta net. Lokayukta raided the offices of the brokers, who were looting people by giving false promises of providing vehicle license and certificates of the vehicles.

The team led by SP Jagamaiah, Udupi Inspectors Dinesh, Thimmayya and other members of Lokayukta raided and recovered Rs 1.50 lakh cash and seized documents from them.

These brokers were looting people with the consent of the RTO officials, but surprisingly no any officials were trapped in the Lokayukta net

A case has been registered and investigation is going on.

It is not the agents, but the people are going to them to get things done! We are making those to do CORRUPTION! Lets unite and say no to that. Please read the comments from Mr. Ravi, Australia...

22 years ago, I got my licence without paying a single rupee apart from the fees. I waited in the line and took a roadworthy vehicle and got my licence. The BI sat behind me on the scooter and was impressed. he took me up to the Tile factory in bolar before turning back. I had to wait 2 days to collect the booklet. It works in India if you can pay the price of hard work on your part. its not the money its the principle.

I got my Passport the same way too. not a paisa paid to agents. It is not impossible, but you need to have the right documents and the will to wait in queues and patiently wait for it.

Congratulations to officials of Lok Yukta on the raid.
Obviously, this is nor a raid, it\'s just an act staged to bring about glory.
Sadly, Lok Yukta or God above cannot bring about a change to the height of corruption in Karnataka and in India in general.
Will this raid bring those corrupt officials of Udupi RTO (who are surprinsgly not caught, named, or photographed) to justice.
Allow me to suggest one simple way to avoid corruption - change the laws that are not implemented and deal directly with the citizens and serve them AND NOT MILK THEM THRU AGENTS!

RTO of united south kanara hv been corrupt for last 3o yrs.when u go for ur learners license they will tell u to go to agent. All corrupt govt officials need to be put behind the bars.karanataka is 3rd most corrupt state.next time u vote think what kind of governance u want.U can see hw BJP changed a honest CM.BJP want to loot karnataka.

Most of the Government officials work hand in glove with the Brokers. From Birth to Death we have to go through this menace. Whom to blame but ourselves as we do not have patience or time to stand in the Que.

GOOD JOB DONE BY LOKAYUKTA. THESE RTO PEOPLE SHOULD BE NAILED TO THE CROSS BY THE POLICE IN PUBLIC. WHEN WE HAVE A CORRUPT GOVENMENT WHAT WE CAN EXPECT FROM RTO. IN KARNATAKA CORRUPTION IS FREE FOR ALL FROM TOP TO BOTTOM FROM CM TO PEON. ONCE IN A YEAR NEW CM AND SO MANY PEOPLE ON LINE WAITING TO BE CM. IF YOU JOIN BJP YOU CAN ALSO BE A CM ONCE. GOD KNOWS HOW MANY MORE CM'S WILL COME BEFORE BJP FINISHES ITS FULL TERM.

Good job and interesting to read. Nothing has changed from 1960's except that the bribes may be even a lot more!

I only hope that the guilty are brought to justice and put behind bars and the RTO office runs more efficiently.

"These brokers were looting people with the consent of the RTO officials, but surprisingly no any officials were trapped in the Lokayukta net" - Report.

The RTO officials and brokers have been working as partners for a few decades now!! I personally know at least two people (brokers) who made fortunes by 'arranging' Driving Lincenses!!! The RTO officials are still operating freely without any fear.

I dont think all of the broker's caught by Lokayuktha Police.Still big fish might have escaped from this raid.
we cannot approach directly R.T.O work to be done.We have to go through these looting agents.
Recently I had a bad experience with Udupi RTO.When I requested for a Licence book or card(as I have a paper licence as i have got as duplicate because I have Lost my original licence book) RTO employees directly told me that apply through agent. And when I come again with application with my own handwriting RTO told me come thru agent.
then i thought to forget it and still i have the same paper licence.now after this raid i want to try again my luck and I want to du this without giving any extra money as bribe.

Lokyuktha police oficials from Mangalore went all the way to catch RTO brokers in Udupi--by the way how about Mangalore RTO dept--there is so much bribing & corruption, someday someone will be surprised. How about all these govt. departments are run by the Lokayuktha officials--No raid, no corruption--Just a good thought!!
