Report by Fr. Ivan D'Souza

Thane: “Amchea Gharant Tiatr " a Konkani drama by Prince Jacob was staged at Mira Road, St. Joseph’s Church for the first time in the Community hall on July 14. The drama attracted a huge audience and the hall was packed.

The drama conveyed a beautiful message stating how there are fights and quarrels take place in a family between daughter-in-law and mother-in-law ,how orphan girls are treated in the family once they are given in marriage and finally how our families become a tiatr or stage for our neighbours. Prince Jacob thanked the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Dominic Vas for the support he gave for allowing him to stage the programme and also for promoting Konkani language.

This drama was organized under the able leadership of pastoral helpers. During the interval Fr. Dominic Vas felicitated all the sponsors and thanked everyone who madethis drama a great success.

I am the fan of Prince Jacob. When Wilfy Rebimbus was alive then his thiyathr troupe they used to visit Mangalore. I could see in the Photograph his Team Members and visualize their character. Mira Road Konkani Lovers might have relished his Thiyathr.
