Mangalore: An appeal to the Police Commissioner, Seemanth Kumar Singh, was submitted at the Commissioner's office on July 18, by the residents of Jappinamogeru demanding security against Sathish Kumar alias Chachchu, Bhavanishankar and his aides who having been acting as goons, creating mischiefs in the locality.
For the last few years in Jappinamogeru, Sathish alias Chachchu was directly involved in theft and also caused communal fights between Hindus and Muslims in the locality. He had been to jail once in a theft case. In 2009, October 26, he had attempted to enter the house of a lady at night. He failed in that robbery attempt, escaped from the scene and was in hiding for many days. After a few days, he surrendered and appeared before the magistrate.



Also once during a cricket match, he had tried to disrupt the game. He had assaulted many women as well as men in the locality and many cases have been registered against him in the Mangalore Rural Police Station.
On 7 October 2011, during the Dasara season, Cachchu appeared in an auto and assaulted many people when a tiger dance from Lions Club was going on. A case on the incident had been registered in Mangalore rural police station and the investigation is in progress.
Another the goon, Bhavani Shanker, was accused in the murder of Srinivas Bajal and KVJ College Manager Sullia Kurunji Venkataramana Gowda, Bhavani Shankar and his aides used to stand at the entrance of the Vaidyanath Temple and verbally abuse women and girls. The group also used to harass the locals for hafta, and would give life threats to anyone who refused to oblige.
The residents of Tandoli Jeppinamogeru, fed up with the situation, approached the Police Commissioner requesting for the arrest of Bhavani Shanker, Sathish Kumar and their aides. They also urged the Commissioner to intimate the concerned officers for the immediate arrest of these 6 goons and to take severe action against them.
KPCC Secretary Ivan D'Souza and Corporator J Nagendra Kumar along with the residents handed over the appeal signed by all the residents of Tandoli Jappinamogeru to the Police Commissioner and urged them to take immediate action so that the people of Jappinamogeru can live peacefully without any fear of these goons.
Praveen Alva, Sridhar Raj Shetty Kdekaru, Ramakrishna Shetty, Shashikanth Shetty Jappinamogetu, Padmanabha Shetty, Panjimogeru Guttu, Keshava Angadimaru, Chandrashekhar Rai, Manoj Shetty, Jayaram Kottari Thandolige, Kirthan Kumar, Mahabala Shetty, Krishna Shetty Anil Kottari and the residents of Jappinamogeru were also present. |
