Mangalore: Lions District Awards 2011-12, Lions Clubs
International Dist. 324-D5, held a "Samman" District Awards nite, at St
Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Hall, Bendur here on July 22.
The awards were presented by the District Governor MJF Lion P Kishore
Rao and his wife Lioness Mallika Rao. Ln Kishore Rao identified,
recognized and suitably rewarded individual clubs, individual lions, lionesses
and even non-lions for the contributions made by them to the district on the
District Awards Nite .































Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Indian Overseas Bank M Narendra
addressing the gathering said, "The district governor has the energy, which is
vibrant throughout the year, the leadership and capabilities of reaching to the
needy and bringing smile on their faces. Further he said Lions clubs in the
district are doing wonders by creating projects which are reaching to the
unreached people".
He also said that from last year we are celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with
the theme of "Touching hearts by spreading Smiles". He assured to take up
some of the projects of Lions Club in Mangalore. He also urged the Lion
members to join hands to strengthen the Indian Overseas Bank.
Addressing the gathering, Managing Director of Karnataka Bank Jayarama Bhat
said, "I am the founder member of Lions Club Kadri Hills, which began with
walkers club and I was attending the club meetings occasionally". He
congratulated Governer Rao and said that Rao has recognized every achiever from
every club and awarded for their hard work.
Governor Kishore Rao speaking on the occasion said that, from past 52 years,
we did not had any roof over our head. We started our own office at the trade
centre and we will have our permanent office and there will be staff to
handle all the lions work. He also thanked Narendra of IOB and Jayaram
Bhat of Karanataka Bank for their support in this venture.
M Narendra (CMD IOB) handed over the cheque of Rs one lakh towards the Mukti
Bhoomi project by Lionesses Vijayalaxmi. Jayaram Bhat MD Karnataka Bank
also handed over Rs 50,000 cheque towards the same

Kishore Rao handed over the office keys to the forthcoming Governor Sadhashiv
Rao on the occasion. Ninet Tellis, Arehole Sadashiv Rao, Rajina Dinesh,
Vijay Vishnu Mayya and Kumble Narashimha Prabhu compered the programme.
