Mangalore: Highly-placed police sources have said that a well-established counterfeit currency ring could be operating in the city. The matter has been revealed with the arrest of two persons of West Bengal origin from near a commercial complex in the city.

Reliable sources said that counterfeit Indian currency of face value Rs 5.50 lakh has been seized from the duo. On being contacted at the official level, the police declined to provide any information. It is thought that in the interest of investigations and to ensure arrest of other persons involved, the information was being held over.

The cops are said to be seeking the help of nationalized banks to determine the genuineness or otherwise of the notes seized.

Until now, detection of counterfeit notes was being reported here and there occasionally. If the report is confirmed, it would mean the largest-ever seizure of dud money in the city.

"This is not fair." - says Sukumar

Well, it is not fair to dilute every threat we face and blame all sections of society to make one specific group happy. Right? Are you an apologist for our friendly neighbor to the west ?

Original Pai, Do not point finger without having any proof. There are all sorts of people involved in all kinds of corruption and looting the country. You seem to be always targeting a certain section of the society. This is not fair.

Our 'peaceful' neighbor of Pakistan is notoriously known for sponsoring and guiding the counterfeit currency operations in our country. Unfortunately many of our guys living in Gulf region are drawn into this operation and used for flooding our market with counterfeit currency. The Republic of Kasaragodu and its southern neighbor 'Republic of Malappuram' - both provide shelter to these rogue elements. In an ideal world, our police and politicians would go after these anti-national elements with vengeance. Unfortunately, in our current 'vote bank' society, these elements are protected and encouraged by fake secular parties!!! Jai Ho!!
