Udupi: UPCL Company  functioning in Yalloor is cheating Grama Panchayath without paying tax.   The villagers during the Grama Sabha  meeting insisted that the crores of rupees in arrears should be utilised towards the development of the village.

The first Grama Sabha meeting of Yalloor was held in  Panchayath Auditorium in Yalloor on Thursday July 26, 2012. UPCL has been causing inconvenience to Thaaje in Ealluru Grama, where the salt emanated from the company is affecting on all iron structures, all iron material of the houses have been rusted away. The villagers displayed the rusted house materials during the Grama Panchayath meeting.

The villagers insisted that the Grama Sabha be cancelled since the Officer in charge himself did not attend the Grama Sabha Meeting, also five members did not show up for the meeting.  Yashwanth Shetty, former President has later issued clarification that he could not attend the Grama Sabha Meeting since he had to attend Udupi Court, since UPCL had registered case on 5 members of the Panchayath.

Arun Shetty Padoor, Zilla Panchayath member ; Sumana S., Grama Panchayath President ; Sumana Kishore, Taluk Panchayath member and a few officers were present  in the meeting.
