St. Aloysius Students Voice Their Anger, Outraged Against Attackers

Mangalore: St Aloysius college students also protested pertaining to resort party attacks,  by boycotting classes.  Addressing the protesters Principal of St Aloysius Fr Swebert D'Silva said that, today Mangalore is famous not only in the country but in the entire world for the wrong reasons. Some elements from the so called organizations are taking law in their own hands and disturbing the peace in the society.  One should understand how to behave in today's civilized society.  No one has the right to force others to follow their ways living in the society, it is his/her choice and we all have the right to live our life.

The recent incident which occurred at the resort is a inhumane act and it will not be tolerated.  The girls were molested by uncivilized goons who themselves may not know the meaning of decency. All this was shown live on television. Somehow the TV media is also responsible for the act, because when  girls were being assaulted and molested the TV media was a mute spectator, recording the whole event and showing it to the world without any attempt to stop or inform the police. This is a cowardly act and the guilty should be punished so that no one will repeat it again. Fr Silva assured his full support towards this cause and said that we must not rest until the culprits are severely punished and justice done to the girls and boys who were assaulted.

Fr Francis Almeida addressing the protesters said that whatever happened on July 28 was a heinous crime and no man will tolerate this.  No one has the right to enter any private property and assault the girls and boys stripping of their clothes.  The culprits should be punished severely so that no one will dare to repeat it again. Further he said that the media especially the TV channels who were present there at the time of assault should also be severely punished. The students should go and protest in front of the TV Channels who have telecasted live when the girls and boys were assaulted. They could have called the police instead of video-graphing, but they wanted to make it sensational to show the faces of the girls while they were attacked and molested. The district administration is directly responsible for this, they are suppressing the voice of the students by imposing section 144, they were sure that the students will not tolerate such issues, to avoid the anger of the students, the district administration does not want the students voice to be heard but criminals are free to do what they like.

HOD of Political Science, Dr Roseveera said that it is unfortunate that a city like Mangalore where women have grown with much confidence have to go through situations like these.  We condemn the attackers, we cannot spare the crime which the moral police have committed.  "The media is equally responsible for showing the clippings of the footage again and again, publishing and highlighting the photographs of the victims on the television channels. It is violation against the rights of the individual. Media projection of the incident is unhealthy, media should follow the ethics of journalism.  This is the opportunity for the students to fight against such incidents and get justice.  Media should not  sensitize the issue by showing the molestation of girls repeatedly" , she said.

Akanksha a third year BCom student speaking on the occasion said that, if we don't protest against such crimes, there will be no place for women in this country.  One day protest will not bring any changes in the society, we have to protest everyday so that no one should dare to touch any girl. She further stated that, entering inside the resort and assaulting girls and boys by stripping of their clothes, and showing their faces to the media is not a civilized act. The so called activists, in the name of culture, taking chance to molest the girls, should be punished mercilessly. There is no excuse for such people in the society.

Akanksha continued saying that , in that  incident a  boy's dress was stripped off and he was beaten in front of the video camera. Who gave them the rights to assault?  Who are they to teach anyone about what to wear and what not?  Who are they to tell them Where to go and how to enjoy?  This is too much from such organizations, we need to show our strength and teach the culprits a good lesson so that others will not dare to touch any girl in future.
,
President of Women Forum, of St Aloysius College, Suman D'Silva addressing the protesters asked " Does any brother molest or beat his sister ?". But here the so called members of the Hindu organization, in the name of moral policing have beaten the boys and molested the girls by stripping off their clothes when they were celebrating birthday party in a private resort. She also asked the protesters who are these to decide about the women dress, and to comment that  the girls wore provocative dress.  The TV channels who were on the scene giving live coverage of the incident should be banned, she said.

All the students demanded for justice and promised to continue their fight till the victims get justice.

Mangalore : Handover Culprits to Us - We'll Teach Them

Mangalore:  Section 144 being imposed in the city, college students on Monday, July 30 protested inside the college campus sending a strong message to the assailants who had assaulted the college students, and their supporters on July 28 at the Morning Mist Home stay resort, that they will fight till the assaulted students get justice.

Addressing the protesters the Student Council president St Agnes College, Falen Lasrado said that, the so called anti- social organizations have taking the law into their hands and assaulted and molested innocent women who were celebrating one of their friend's birthday party.  If they are really concerned about the culture of the Country let them wear the dhothi, why have they adopted the western culture? All the culprits were seen wearing Jeans. Who are they to decide about what others girls wear?  Who are they to enter someone else's house, question and assault them?

She further stated that our culture speaks about women being treated with respect. By taking law in their hands, beating girls, molesting them by touching their wrong parts of their body, the goons have done a merciless deed. All the culprits should be brought in front of us, so that we can deal with them in the same way, which they dealt with the girls and boys on July 28.  We will not forget them and we will not stop our agitation.  We need justice and this will not be repeated, she said.

Mr Kiran/Rahul

In this case the attackers are Hindus and so are the victims. So stop giving a communal tinge to the girls who are protesting.

First the hindutva elements went for the muslims, then the christians and now they are coming after Hindus themselves.

That is what happens when good people choose to be silent when evil happens in society. The minority in this case are the goons who are doing this. The majority of Indians are peace loving and law abiding.

There is one thing that now we all know how sick those culprits where.. but the girls had the worst nightmare ever!! So stop playing that vedio on TV . Mangalore is being really scary now! Where is ABVP now ? They protest for each and every silly reasons, Now in Mangalore such heinous crime happened and the entire world is showing anger, but ABVP is in deep slumber. I think they don't know the value of their sisters and mother's. They poke their nose when there is no violence
Suraj, India Jul 31, 2012
Looks like the so called moral policing squad are actually sex maniacs. They should be stripped, paraded naked and then I think a huge rod should be stuffed up
Biju Krishnan, India Jul 31, 2012
It was the so called christian father's who were behind the protest behind Kudamkulam Nuclear Power Project which later was found being funded by anti-India foreign powers. I think now he is fighting against Indian values. I am also a student and cannot understand why 8 - 9 students need a home-stay to celebrate their birth day?

@Munna:

Doesn’t matter whether the protestors are from Mangloreans or outside Mangalore. These people live in Mangalore and they are protesting against an incident which happened in Mangalore. They want to live fearlessly and with dignity, just like you being an outsider live in AUH.

Samje?
Ashi, India Jul 30, 2012
I guess ABVP students boycotted this protest. Do they agree with wat has been done to the students, specially to the girls?
Sunny, India Jul 30, 2012

Well done students of St. Agnes and St. Aloysius. This is what unity is and strength that matters a lot. Keep up your pressure on these tugs until they are punished. If for any reason they come out free, please bang them LEFT/RIGHT and teach them a life time lesson not even look at the women in future, forget about touching/hitting them.

Thanks Fr. Swebert for standing and supporting the students, Yes we need a Principal like you to support the injustice done to our children.

All those supporting the goons and their act are fools and one day they encounter the same problem and learn a lesson themselves in time.

Once again good show boys and girls , let us all stand united.. Hats off to you guys. WELL DONE

Cute good looking girls, wish i could throw a birthday party if some one wish to join let me know!! but for sure not anywhere near these goons, its pity when these rascals come to hit these poor girls.
sakeer, India Jul 30, 2012
The District Administration was also responsible for this heiunus criminal attack., If they took a strigent action against those goons, who attacked pub two years back, such kind of incidents will not occure. Those Sanga Parivar Goons should be put in jail without bail for one year. Also in twin district, Sanga Parivar activities should be banned, then only people can get peace in both district. As far as BJP in power, these goons do not have fear and even they will attack police.
Harish Maru, India Jul 30, 2012
Respected ladies of Manglore,

Enough is enough. It is the call of destiny that from your oft repeated ordeals, you rise and unnerve the male dominated political world that encourages by sheltering such nasty groups of moral police.

Form a independent only women political party right now and start contesting elections . Woman are a big vote bank and can easily defeat male dominated parties.

Without direct political power, you will never get justice.

Think it over.
Norbert Fernandes, India Jul 30, 2012

JRM, Bahrain Jul 30, 2012
No doubt, whatever happened to the ladies is completely wrong. We should condemn the act.
But, why Congress peoples inside college premises?
ROYSON, M'lore, India Jul 30, 2012
Dear friends of other state and country, Kindly get the facts right. The people did not come to have sex or any issue like that. They had come for a birthday party which was conducted by their own friends. someone had informed the activists and they took advantage of this situation along with the MEDIA where the activists came to ruin the party. They went against the girls and also took advantage of them. They don't have any rights to take over a pvt party, enter inside and hit brutally by removing the clothes and making up news and stuff without informing the cops. why people? are there no police stations or police for the law to be handled? we cannot take law in our own hands or create law. It must be followed. Govt must be ashamed as well as the people.
Which modern word are we living in?
We say India is a democratic country with full of rights and constitutions. Then why are we stopped from following the rights?
Wake up friends. Get your FACTS and opinions right.. Support this PROTEST for our better future.
Munna - Abu Dhabi, UAE Jul 30, 2012
Just a small question all this students in St Aloysius college students are mangalorian or outsiders entering in our state for education and speaking on manglore culture...............
Norbert Fernandes, India Jul 30, 2012
I totally agree with what Fr. Swebert D'silva has said....No one can take the Law in their hands and do what they want. The media is equally to be blamed for showing live coverage instead of calling the police on time. The whole world is untied today to fight again this evil act by the goons who are uneducated, un - cultured sweepers from the road. Well said Fr. Swebert.
vanessa, India Jul 30, 2012
students all across the city have put up a brave act....this shud b appreciated.......nt asked 2 recede back.....everyone has an equal right....no gal is of less value....these so-called policemen stand near the agnes gate.....say....we\\\'ll ruin ua lyf....we\\\'ll take ua pics nd show them.....use all possible abusive words....IS THIS THE WAY A POLICEMAN,DEEMED 2 PROTECT OUR RIGHTS,SPEAKS 2 A GAL?????i dnt tink so.......dis is nt da way they shud treat us......we are nt their slaves......we\\\'ve got equal rights.........no one can restrict us frm wearin wat v want......if they do....dey can ban the clothes frm the shops itself......dis shud b stopped.....otherwise......the prsent youth will have a tough tym in the near future......

INDIAN, UAE Jul 30, 2012
I agree with you we would not allow our kith and kin to b a part of this without our consent but just tel me there is no right to anyone to assualt the girls or even the boys.they have hired the homestay since it available!they have not illegaly trespassed the area. see culture is not about all of wearing clothes or party...culture is 1st of all being human and respecting each other first.who said they were following western lifestly or culture? just by wearing jeans or short top its not that they r following western culture!culture is just a way of life which we follow, hitting girl molesting is which culture?we have right to wear wat we want when you guys enjoy watching all sort in movies its no wrong then even such movies and anything cuming in tv in Indai shud ban such clothes an all such activity...they are 18 n above so they know wats rite n wrong.its upto them.our parents trust us,like wise if parents start doubting and stoping each one from going out today girls would be inside house.whats wrong in such party if its safe and they were having it for themselves...they wernot robbing or etc, india is a place where we are seeing all caste creed as one y all this...u r speaking about culture,India has legalised livein relationships etc it supports such things prostitutes are known as sex workers, goondas contest elections..tell me all these are culture, culture is being human 1st and then all this,if vidya balan takes of her pallu its hot but if girl wears shorts its wrong!!!culture...1st try to behave like human being then talk about culture etc.unless girls are comfortable with what they can wear anything they want let rules b same to all,let guys wear dhothis or say kudta y jeans thats western too!y for higher class one and lower class diddrent.let such clothes b banned completly all over India then we can say its wrong!...if it was wrong of they hiring such homestay the owner shud not have given it on rent! well females are still seen as weaker section,is india being indian!this is Indian culture?treat her like other human!
VIJAY, MANGALORE, India Jul 30, 2012

sree, UAE Jul 30, 2012
India is a democratic country. People above 18 yrs have the right to free sex. Even the boys and girls engaged in sex, what is wrong, it is thier right. They have obeviously not done for money, which is against the law. I request the collage girls to resisit the social policing by more open sexual behavior. What the goons can do, let us see.
Ambedkar, India Jul 30, 2012
Nice Gals ;-)
Mangalore Boy, India Jul 30, 2012
It is very good all collages and public are to gather to support that incident but still all Indian people should support and they should fight until the justice will get. And police official has to hand over all culprits to public and public should teach them how they have to behave with other. After that other people has know if we do like what will happen for us.
