Mumbai: To strengthen and to encourage the dance talents of the community Kulala Sangha, Mumbai has decided to conduct dance competition on September 16, 2012 from 2.30 pm to 8.30 pm at Vishveshwaraya Sabhagraha, Matunga. A meeting of Sangha’s Sub-Committee, and Socio Economic committee held recently, has decided to hold this “KULALA NRUTYA PARVA” – a dance competition. The Committee has appointed prominent dance personalities as Judges they are, Amita Moolya of Amita Nrutya Acadamy, Geeta Salian of Powai Natana Nrutya Acadamy, and Minal Salian, Dombivali. The rules and regulations of this competition has been drafted under their guidance.
“To encourage and to support the dance talents of Kulala community from Mumbai, New Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Gujarat etc., we have decided to conduct this dance competition” said B. Dinesh Kulal, the Chairman of this sub committee. Geeta Salian, requested the artists of the community to participate in this competition in huge numbers. One of the sponsorers of the event Sunder Karmaran, Fund Raising Committee Chairman Girish B. Saliyan, New Mumbai Local Committee Chairman Raghu Moolya, Shashikumar V. Kulal, Umesh M. Bangera, Sampat Salian, Raghu B. Moolya, Suraj Karmaran, Venugopal Karkera, and Dayanand Moolya were present in the meeting. Amita Moolya explained the rules and regulations of the competition.

The members of Kulala community belonging to Mumbai and its suburbs, Pune, Nashik and Gujarat are invited to avail this unique opportunity and participate in the dance competition.
Classical Group Dances
Western / Folk Group dances
The competition will have following 3 age group categories:
Age group of 10 to 16 years
Age group of 16 years and above (Open category)
Bharatnatyam (solo) - open category (No age limit)
Children below the age of 10 years will not be considered for competition but they will be provided open opportunity to exhibit their dance talent through group dance.
Rules & Regulations:
Classical, western and folk dances will be team events.
Maximum time permitted for each team will be 5 minutes. Marks will be deducted if the performance exceeds the time limit of 5 minutes.
Props is compulsory for western and folk dances.
Dance performances in duet are not allowed.
Each CD must contain one song only. Please carry one extra CD to fall back on, in case of any problem with the original CD.
Dance performances in all Indian languages are allowed.
Classical dance includes any of the following dance forms i.e. Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Manipuri, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Kathakkali etc.
In classical dance, importance will be given to costume, choreography, synchronization, artistic expression, rhythm and beats.
In western dance, importance will be given to costume, choreography, synchronization, utilization of stage area and props.
This competition has no entrance fees.
