Kundapur: Raksha Bandhan Celebrated In District With Tradition and Grandeur

‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Noolu Hunnime’, were celebrated with devotion throughout Udupi district on Thursday August 2, 2012.

"Rakhi", being a symbol of strong bond between brother & sister, the Hindu Yuva Sene of Udupi Unit, visited the Dalit Colonies and celebrated Raksha Bandhan by  tying  the 'Rakhi' in a significant and traditional way.

A team Led by Vasudev Bhat, District President Hindu Yuva Sene, and its members visited Dr Ambedkar Extension, Doddanagudde and Bannanje Dalit Colonies and tied Rakhi to the residents of the colony and strengthened the bond between them.

Women wing of Udupi district BJP also celebrated Raksha Bandhan at their party office. District Womens'  Wing President,  Mahila Morcha President Reshma Udaya Shetty  tied  Rakhi to Udaya Kumar Shetty on this auspicious occasion.

Koteshwara Vishwa Karma Community celebrated Noolu Hunnime (Sacred Thread),  at Vishwa Karma Kalyana Mantapa, on August 2. More than 70 people changed the sacred threads and celebrated Noola Hunnime. Also at Vishwa Karma Kalyana Mantapa the festival ‘Noolu Hunnime’ was carried in religious and traditional manner.
                      
Students of Seva Sangama School  tied rakhis to boys in their respective classes, to strengthen the brother and sister bond and to increase the responsibilities of the boys to safe guard the girls.
