Mangalore: Kateel Temple Priest Vasudeva Udupa (53) Dies in Road Mishap

Mangalore: Vasudeva Udupa, one of the temple priests of Shri Kshetra Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple in Kateel near here died in a road mishap that took place near the college around Saturday, Aug 18 noon.

Udupa had been a regular as idol-bearer at all religious events during the past 12 years, said temple sources. He, after completing the rituals in the temple, had his lunch thereand then was on his way home riding his scooter towards Gidigere.

A private bus from Mulki to Polali via Kinnigoli knocked him down near the Kateel college. Critically injured, he is said to have died on the spot, while the scooter was left in a smashed state.

He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
