Mangalore: Besant Women's College organized, the culture Crisol, ‘Bequest’, a two day National level Inter-Collegiate talent competition at the college auditorium, here on September 6.
The programme began with a prayer song by the college students. Principle of Besant Women's College, Manjula T K welcomed the guests and the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by the COO of Robsoft Technologies. Udupi, Shailaja Rao by unveiling the trophies.
Addressing the gathering Shailaja said, "Our country has a variety of culture, especially our district which has a rich culture and it has various dialects. Variety exists in our country and we are strongly believing in unity in diversity. The present generation does not follow the older tradition and culture. It is important to make the present generation to know about the culture and tradition which has come from our forefathers and encourage them to follow it. The teaching fraternity must play a vital role in training and molding the present generation to learn the values of the older generation because values are very much associated with our country".
Shailaja Rao also advised the students to take part in the extra curricular activities because only once do we get a student life to enjoy, once we finish college, we will be busy with our own work. She urged the students and teachers to give importance to the extra curricular activities along with the academic education. The extra curricular activities will enhance the personality of the students.
President Women's National Education Society, Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy delivered the presidential address. Student Welfare Officer Dr Sudha K delivered the vote of thanks. Various competitions were also held on the occasion.
