Mangalore: St Ann's College of Education organized "B.Ed Graduation day -2012", at the College Auditorium, here on September 7.
The programme began with an invocation followed by the welcome dance. The annual report was presented through power point presentation. The Principal of the college, Dr Sr Clare AC welcomed the gathering. The achievers and rank holders in B.Ed and M.Ed were felicitated by the Joint Director and Principal, college of Teacher Education Mangalore, Philomena Lobo on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Philomena Lobo said, "Teaching is a noble Profession, no other profession can match it, because it stands in the category of building the society. Teachers are the builders of the society". Further she said that, sometimes teachers think that their duty is only to teach the students and go back but teachers should learn from the students. Until and unless we are not learning from our students we will not be a perfect teachers.
Further adding she said that some teachers have the ego that the students should listen to them and not react. When the students react teachers should take it as a lesson and try to learn from it. Sometimes students will teach us how a teacher should be and it will help us to improve our quality of teaching. Teachers should change the teaching methods everyday so that students will not feel bored. Sometimes when applications are called for awards, we get big list of the achievements of the teachers. When a teacher applies for any award, one should look at what is his/her contribution towards the achievement of the students in bringing laurels to the school and not her own achievements. Students achievements should be our reward and that is the best reward a teacher can get in her/his life.
There was a cultural programme on the occasion. Secretary for education Sr Edna Furtado AC, Apostolic Carmel Education Society Dr Sr Lydia Fernandes AC, Counseller general Sr Mabelia, Vice Principal Sr Maria Roopa and Assistant professor Dr Vijayakumari SN were also present on the dais.
Student President Saritha Pinto compered the programme. Sameeda delivered the vote of thanks. |
