| | Bangalore: Sri Sri gets Paraguay's highest civilian award |

| | Published Date: 14 Sep, 2012 (2:37 PM) |  Bangalore, Sep 14 (IANS) Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been honoured with Paraguay's highest civilian award.
He was conferred the National Order of Merito de Comuneros Thursday in the Paraguay capital, the Art of Living Foundation said Friday.
The award has been bestowed on only two others in the 200-year history of Paraguay's parliament.
The Art of Living founder, who was received by Paraguay President Federico Franco, also addressed the Senate.
The Universidad Autonoma de Asuncion of Paraguay too honored Sri Sri by conferring the Doctorate Honoris Causa in recognition of the humanitarian work done by The Art of Living.

Why is Mr Pai USA saying such things about Sri Sri Ravishanker. Please do visit the center here in Mangalore and find out how many people from your community visit here to pray to Sri Sri. People pray to Sri Sri directly for relief as he is an avatara. Sri Sri is not copying anyone, Sri Sri is himself an avatara.
Mr Pai USA, please do come to proper understanding on Guruji and get his blessings and pray to him. |

Shame on you for saying Sri Sri only focus to make money. May be that is your focus, so you talk Hindu but run to US for money.

What is the agenda I am promoting, which you are accusing me of. Sri Sri is not a Hindu Swamiji, really ?. What is religious freedom Mr Pai ?

Conversion is in the mind of the converted. So a Christian might give succor for poverty and Sri Sri will give relief to your stress. Whether you get converted to the Padres teaching or to Sri Sri's is up to you. The issue is of freedom of religion.

ravi shanakr never went for conversion ..he just spread peace messages..nether he is forcing hinduism or insulting others as zakir naik or other converting macheiry doing in ndia..
he alwyas speaks high on bible or quarn..
problem starts when some preists show other gods are fake ..
hope you know the differece between peace message and conversion in the name of peace... |

@ Ratan Shetty - Please don't twist my words to peddle your agenda. If you read my post again, you can see that I am not really a big fan of this swamiji and his non-stop self-promotion. However, I have to keep it real. He doesn't 'convert' people!! He is too smart for that!! His focus is not on religion, but a stress free lifestyle!! His entire focus is on making money!!! But, he doesn't insult other Gods and promote his Gods. He doesn't bring up Hindu- Christian stuff. If you look at him, he tries to look like Jesus Christ with his long hair and white dress!!! He doesn't even wear 'khaavi' (Saffron) dress!! So, please be honest before you start judging him.
@ Alwyn, Canada - I agree with you that we all should fix our own houses first before talking about others. Did you apply the same standards to Christian missionaries as well? Did those missionaries address all the poverty and other issues back home before sailing to distant lands and started converting people ? Even today, there is so much poverty and so many social issues in Christian societies. (this is true with all societies by the way). However, what gives you the right to talk as if Christians are the only ones who care about poor people ? You need to stop acting like an ignorant person and look at the reality - Have you been to Dharmasthala ? Have you been to Sidhaganga mutt? Have you seen the works of Udupi mutt and ISKCON ? Moreover, why is that missionaries focus only on tolerant societies like India, not on Islamic countries? Please stop your blind hatred and see the reality. |

The one who spoke of conversion and lit the dire was the Original Pai from USA.
Mr Pai, Here a Hindu Swami is getting an award from a Christian country for whatever that award is worth. Who is attempting to convert whom here?. They are not saying he is converting and attacking him. They are listening to his message. So many of our Swamis go to USA and take Hindu message there, no one stops them in foreign countries which are mostly Christian countries. In fact you live in one such country and I am sure are happily practicing Hinduism without any threat to you.
Please open your eyes before commenting on conversion as this is your bogeyman against Christian minorities in India. Christians where over 4% of Indias population during independence, they are now reduced to around 2%, stop spreading canards. If learned, educated people like you spread half truths like this , can we expect any better from the lumpen Sangh Parivar goons in Mangalore who resort to violence over matters like this. |

| Only quacks like Nityananda gets publicity in india. B R ambedkar, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Swami Vivekananda, Lokmanya Tilak, Mahamanã Malaviya, Veer Savarkar, Sri M.S. Golwalker , Raja Rammohan Roy, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar ,Dayananda Saraswati did social service with out publicity or conversions . Baba Amte Dr sudharshan , Siddaganga mut , Suttur mut , Dharmastala etc and there are thounsands of hindu ashrams do run orpahanages , medical service, education etc with-out religious touch or publicity . |

| Some people worried about conversion. One convert for self development from religion, education and social welfare which is revolution in pnce life provided that those conversion are good for living with peace and happiness. Jealously is the great mental issue faced by many people which is worst than cancer in peoples life. These sri's first has to work in India for gender equality, cast equalities, corrption free in many areas then go for international level.At this point your house is on fire please fix first. Serve in India so many poor, orphans only christians take care of these people whereas these Sri goes for recognition around the world what is the great thing. Serve like mother Therera and then see life is all about. Sri get rewards from leopors, blind people, TB patients, cancers patients, orphans etc which is a great rewards one can get like mother Theresa. Aim for such rewards. I PRAY FOR THOSE ZEALOUS PEOPLE TO HEAL FROM CONVERSION ISSUES. |

I guess there is no limit for self-promotion!! Oh well, on a more realistic note, I would rather put up with these 'spiritual gurus' who encourage breathing, bhajan and satsanga over those who call for attacks, conversion and violence!!!!
