Mangalore: Captain Ganesh Karnik Abhinandana Samiti held a felicitation ceremony for Capt Ganesh Karnik at the City Town Hall here on September 16.

The programme began with an invocation. The programme was inaugurated by the Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor, Sharavu Raghavendra Shastri, A J Shetty and P Raghunath Hegde by lighting the traditional lamp. There was cultural programme by 20 various music troupes. The picture of Ganesh Karnik was drawn by the popular artist Sayyed Asif Ali on the occasion.

President of Indian Overseas Bank, M Narendra, DGM Karnataka Bank P Jayaram Bhat and Prof M B Puranik felicitated Ganesh Karnik with flowers, fruits, shawl and memento.

Addressing the gathering Ganesh Karnik said, " after coming to Mangalore, the members of Vishwa Hindu Parishath encouraged and supported me. Today if I have reached such great heights, then it is because of the support and encouragement from VHP. My wife supported me a lot to continue in this field. We all expect a good leader, good politician to lead our country as well as the state. But how many mothers are thinking of involving their sons or daughters in politics. We need more and more youth to involve in politics to take our state and country forward and make it a better place to live"

Highlighting the importance of education Karnik said that, education is all about enlightenment of a human being. If there is education there wont be darkness but in our country there is darkness. We need to promote education and eliminate darkness from the country. We have good talents in our country and we need to encourage the talents.

Dear Ravinarayana,

Your three references come from Ganesh Karnik's personal websites. He has given press releases, cleverly implying that the Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has spoken about the NRI cell.

Chief Ministers open/inauguarate many things. Both private and public. But that is not the same as endorsement or ownership by the Government.

For the Government to start something as their own department or body, the process is very complex. It has to be formed over a long period of time.

Plus, it is gazetted - to officially pronounce.

There is no gazetted announcement about this venture by Ganesh Karnik.

I challenge anyone to raise this matter as an RTI query and prove me wrong.

But do not show Ganesh Karnik's own Press Releases as the proof that the Government of Karnataka is behind this venture!

Ganesh Karnik is a very clever man.

Praising the Vishwa Hindu Parishath has its benefits. Ganesh Karnik is making sure his future is safe. Smart man.

If you look at the website http://www.nriforumkarnataka.org/members/, the page title is

"The Governing Council & Members of NRI Forum Karnataka, Govt Of Karnataka"

But the Govt (I guess he means Government) of Karnataka has no such official body called NRI Forum Karnataka. The NRI Forum Karnataka is the creation of Ganesh Karnik alone.

The Government of Karnataka neither supports it, nor endorses it! Prove me wrong!

It is plainly evident that Ganesh Karnik is misleading the public, by making it appear that this forum is endorsed by the Government of Karnataka.

Despite adding all the Principal Secretaries one can ever come across in Karnataka, not a single Government publication has given any coverage to the privately created entity of Ganesh Karnik.

Maybe with one exception: You can find a link to "NRI Karnataka" on the Government of Karnataka's website. Take the mouse to the link, and you will see:

"external Non-Government website that opens in a new window"

A Non-Government site?

But go to Ganesh Karnik's site by clicking the link. And you will see on the image in bold letters:

"NRO Fortum Karnataka
Government of Karnataka".

Do you think this is another scam?
