Mangalore: CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat is in city to campaign for the communist party Candidates. The CPI(M) members held a press meet at Hotel Srinivas here on May 1.
Addressing the media persons, Brinda said that the Congress and BJP are the real estate parties. She further said that both the parties have neglected and sidelined the workers and farmers fundamental rights. Both the parties bring religion into politics and try to get votes.
Brinda also pointed out that the liberty of the country has been hijacked. communal parties have attacked the liberty of the country. Most of the Central ministers are involved in various scams and the central government has failed to provide good administration. Instead of working for the development of the country, they are developing scams.
When asked about Soujanya rape and murder case, Brinda said, "Soujanya rape and murder is a horrendous crime and the government is trying to protect the real culprit by certifying the abnormal person as normal. The investigation is biased and the people are not satisfied with the police department.
When asked about Narendra Modi coming to Mangalore for campaigning, Brinda said, "Modi is a person who is polarizing the society. He is talking about good governance whereas in Gujarat the government has utterly failed and utter bias of governance which is perhaps the worst in the country. When message over message was coming to the chief minister from every PCR about the mobilization of communal forces in different parts of Gujarat and pleading for help which he refused to do it. And he presided over that and this is the governance they are now promoting. Those are documents and not opinions. Modi is a leader who always tries to break the society. Mangalore is a very sensitive region, which will make way for communal disharmony. He is coming to the city and has the potential to polarize the Hindu vote bank".
While concluding Brinda said that CPI(M) party is committed to the smooth functioning of the parliament and to take all the measures to avoid food scarcity. CPI(M) will become the voice of the voiceless, she assured.
K R Shriyan, CPI(M) leader B Madhava and Candidate Vasanth Achary were also present.
