Mangalore: Mangalore: Holy Cross Church Cordel celebrated its annual feast and the installation of the Holy Cross Relic at the newly built adoration Chapel here on September 15.

There was a stage programme to felicitate the donors on the occasion. Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Committee Praveen Patrao welcomed the gathering. In his keynote address, Fr Valerian said that from the past 5 years we were observing 40 hours of fasting every year, to get the Relic from Jerusalem and were reminding the Bishop help us. After 5 years of our fasting and continuous efforts we have been able to receive the Holy Cross Relic which is made with the piece of the original cross on which Jesus' died.
Fr Denis Moras Prabhu congratulated the parishioners and wished the Parish Priest for having the opportunity to receive the Holy Cross Relic .The donors and sponsors for the Adoration Chapel were felicitated on the occasion by Bishop Aloysius D'Souza.
Addressing the gathering Bishop Dr Aloysius said that the Parishioners of Cordel Parish are very generous in donating. The Cordel Parish Priest was the first one to donate for the diocesan mission. He further said that whoever donates to the Church will be blessed by God. Whether it is a small or big contribution, everything will be counted and rewarded by the Heavenly Father.
Bishop further said that in Cordel Parish many historic events had taken place, from today you will get and opportunity to pray at the Chapel of the True Cross and venerate the relic of the Cross whenever you are willing to pray. It is a golden opportunity for the parishioners to venerate the relic of the True Cross because it was the instrument on which our Lord made His supreme sacrifice for our salvation. It was soaked in His most precious Blood. And through this we recognize that the cross of Christ has become the Tree of Life.
Bishop Dr Aloysius felicitated Fr Valerian on behalf of the parishioners for all his development work in the parish. Later the Bishop was felicitated by the Parish Priest with shawl and memento.
Sushil Noronha delivered the vote of thanks. Later a festival mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Mangalore.
