SSLC results: girls outshine boys in Udupi district

Udupi May 3: Thirty-one schools have recorded 100 per cent results in the SSLC examination in Udupi district. Of the 14,735 students who appeared for the March 2009 exam, 91.17 per cent of the girls and 88.4 per cent of the boys have passed.

According to the Department of Public Instruction, the 31 schools that secured 100 per cent results include two government schools, six aided schools and 23 unaided schools. Seventeen of the 31 schools are English-medium schools, 13 are Kannada medium, and one school offers education in both English and Kannada mediums.

Kannada medium

The 13 Kannada medium schools that secured 100 per cent results are Sri Mookambika Temple High School, Kollur; Bharatmata High School, Mudur; Mookambika Temple High School, Mavinakatte; Government High School, Beloor; Seva Sangama Vidya Kendra High School, Thekkatte; Vani High School, Nadur; B.M.M. High School, Korady; Government High School, Kavady; P.K.S. High School, Kalathur; Sri Vishnumurthy High School, Kudi; Sri Kanteshwara High School, Kantawar; St. Joseph’s High School, Belman; and Mahatma Gandhi High School, Kukkundur.

English medium

The 17 English medium schools that secured 100 per cent results are Shubhada High School, Kirimanjeshwar; Gregory High School, Nada; Sandipini High School, Kambadakone; V.K. Acharya High School, Kundapur; Viveka High School, Kota; S.M.S. High School, Brahmavar; National Pre-University College, Barkurl; T.A. Pai High School, Udupi; Sri Narayanaguru High School, Malpe; St. Mary’s High School, Udupi; St. Francis High School, Mudrangady; S.V.S.High School, Innanje; Sagar Vidyamandira High School, Padubidri; Sri Narayanaguru High School, Padubelle; Christ King Pre-University College, Karkala; Dr. NMAM High School, Nitte; and S.R. High School, Hebri.

The S.N.V. High School at Hiriyangady offers both Kannada and English mediums.

Top scorers

Four students have scored above 95 per cent marks in the district. They are Mahima Shenoy of Manipal Pre-University College, Manipal, 97.92 per cent; Varsha Rao of Sri Bhuvanendra High School, Karkala, and Sriraksha of Venkataramana English Medium School, Kundapur, both 97.6 per cent; and Shradha S. Kamath of Sri Bhuvanendra High School, Karkala, 97.44 per cent. While Ms. Mahima Shenoy studied in a Kannada-medium school, the rest studied in the English medium.
