MANGALORE May 19: An entrepreneur, based at Mangalore but now residing in Sharjah, West Asia, has developed an interior road here at an estimated cost of Rs. 16 lakh on his own.

Deputy Commissioner V. Ponnuraj will dedicate the re-laid road on Tuesday. Ronald Colaco, a native of Mulihitlu here, has developed Tillery Road to a 1,100-ft long stretch after obtaining permission from the Mangalore City Corporation. On either side of the re-laid stretch, rubberised interlock pavements have been laid. Mr. Colaco owns a house on this road, where his mother lives.

G.V. Rajashekar, executive engineer at the corporation, said Mr. Colaco had borne the entire cost of relaying the road. Mr. Colaco’s friend Austein Peres, who lives in the city, told The Hindu that rubberised interlock pavements had been laid on the sides of two more roads in Mulihitlu with Mr. Colaco’s funds.

Mr. Peres said that Mr. Colaco had donated funds to lay inter-locks on the premises of a place of worship in Mulihitlu. “He will personally donate garbage bins to about 100 houses on Tuesday,” he said.

Good deed Mr. Colaco. But isn't this stretch is part of the proposed Mangala Corniche?

Earning money is one thing and spending it in way is another. Well done mr. colaco.

May many more may follow your example. The gulf based NRIs accumalate money all life but do not enjoy the fruits of their hard work.

You have shown a way where not only self but many more people can enjoy the work done by you.

Once again keep it up, and may god bless with more prosparity so you continue to do same kind of work.

Congratulations Mr. Colaco.
You are a true Indian and a great philanthrope.
You will be blessed for this act of kindness. "It is not for thee alone, pass it on" was the message from Jesus which you implemented.
Happiness is in giving. You must have worked very hard to earn that money which you gave to others. Hard work never kills. May the Lord bless you.
May your tribe increase. We will pray for you.
You are a role model for society.

Sure a good Cause with a Motive - clearly short sighted. I am sure hard eared money never goes in such cheap labour.
