Bangalore, Dec 30 : As many as 15.4 million voters, nearly half of them women, will exercise their franchise in the second phase elections for 595 Zilla Panchayat and 2161 Taluk Panchayat seats to be held in 17 districts tomorrow.
According to State Election Commission, as many as 2353 candidates were in the fray.
The districts goint to poll are Chickmagalur, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hasan, Kidagu, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagara, Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkote, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Uttara Kannada, Davanagere and Koppal.
In the first phase elections, held on December 26, nearly 70 per cent of the voters had cast their votes.
The SEC sources informed out of 18203 polling stations, as many as 2,783 have been designated as most sensitive and another 4036 as sensitive and additional security forces would be deployed.
SEC sources also informed that repoll in 12 booths will be held.
The repoll became necessary due to snag in Electronic Voting Machines and rigging during the first phase elections.
The counting of votes would be held on December 4 and the results would be available by the evening, the sources added.
