Mangalore, Jun 24 (3:30 pm): The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK).
COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a common entrance test every academic year. COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counseling (Single window system).
The COMEDK entrance test is mandatory for candidates seeking admissions for the Under-Graduate courses in COMEDK Member Institutions.
COUNSELLING PROCEDURE FOR FATHER MULLER MEDICAL COLLEGE, MANGALORE.
Father Muller Medical College is a member of COMEDK, hence, Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore cannot admit candidates or conduct the Counseling in the College directly. There will be two rounds of Counseling conducted by COMEDK. Candidates have to compulsorily attend the Counseling conducted by COMEDK, obtain the Allotment letter and take admissions into Father Muller’s. In both rounds, the candidates will be allowed to exercise option and to select a seat of their choice strictly in the order of merit.
First round of counseling: Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore is a Christian Minority Institution. Hence, the First round of Counseling will be only for Karnataka Christian Candidates. Christian candidates who have secured 90 marks (50%) and OBC candidates (Christian) who have secured 72 marks (40%) are eligible for this round of Counseling.
Second Round of Counseling: During the Second Round of Counseling, for the Vacant seats - Non-Karnataka Christian Candidates will be eligible for the counseling as per the rank merit obtained by them. Candidates have to produce the Religion Certificate issued by any Government official during the Counseling.
N.B.: Father Muller Medical College has 55 seats in COMEDK quota. The FMMC management has absolutely no say in the selection process. These seats have to be merited by the students by way of performance in the COMEDK Entrance Test which is usually conducted in the first week of May every year. The first round of Counseling (Karnataka Christians) usually takes place in the first week of July every year. There are 11 Medical Colleges under COMEDK.

CET ADMISSION BY “Karnataka Examinations Authority” (KEA).
The Government of Karnataka established Common Entrance Test Cell in the year 1994 for conducting of Entrance Test and to determine the merit of the candidates for admission to Professional courses such as Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine & Homoeopathy, Engineering / Technology & Architecture courses.
To expand the activities of the CET Cell, the Government by order No. ED. 212 TEC 2006 dated 20-12-2006 has converted the Common Entrance Test Cell in to an autonomous body Registered under Societies Registration Act 1960 called “Karnataka Examinations Authority” (KEA).
Admissions to the Government seats shall be made in accordance with the rules (in short ) as amended from time to time.
In order to obtain admission to any of the professional courses through KEA, a candidate must appear for the Common Entrance Test, which will be conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore (Herein after referred to as KEA). The Common Entrance Test will be conducted at 43 places, spread over Karnataka Candidates who have studied the Qualifying Examination within Karnataka should write 'CET-2011' in a test centre assigned by the KEA within the district in which the candidate has studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard.
Candidates who satisfy one of the following Clauses / Eligibility Criteria ONLY are eligible for selection of Government seats in Government, Aided, Private Un-aided Minority / Non-minority institutions through KEA.
The candidate should have studied and passed in one or more Government or Government recognised educational institutions located in the State of Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN academic years.
The candidate should have studied and passed both 1st and 2nd year Pre-University Examination or 11th and 12th standard examination within the State of Karnataka from an Educational Institution run or recognized by the State Government and that either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN years.
SUPPLY OF BROCHURE CUM APPLICATION FORM
Brochure cum application form will be supplied through the schools / colleges located within the State of Karnataka in which the students are studying 2nd PUC or 12th standard examination.
The rank list for Medical and Dental courses will be prepared and published only on the basis of marks secured by candidates in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. The candidates who secure 50% (GM) of marks in PCB subjects in the qualifying examination and also in the Common Entrance Test will only be eligible for assignment of Medical / Dental ranks. However, the marks in PCB subjects in both Q. E. and CET will be 40% in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, CAT – 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B categories. Further, the candidates (GM) who secure less than 50% of marks taken together in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test and less than 40% in case of SC, ST, CAT – 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B categories, will not be awarded any rank for admission to Medical / Dental courses.
All the candidates (GM, SC, ST Category – I and OBC category candidates) must compulsorily produce the obtained from the head of the institution where the candidate has passed the 10th standard / SSLC examination, by mentioning the Standards, Academic years, Mother Tongue as per the admission register of the institution.
Candidates belonging to reserved categories should submit caste / income certificate as the case may be, issued by the Tahasildar in Form 'D' for SC, ST, in Form 'E' for Category-I and in Form 'F' for 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B categories.
From this year KEA will hold ONLINE seat selection process at Shimoga and Mangalore apart from Hubli, Gulbarga and Bangalore for Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy, Engineering / Technology and Architecture courses.
In accordance with Admission rules, the seat selection process comprises of an Admission Round followed by a Casual Vacancy Round for casual vacancies, if any. The seats will be offered to all eligible rank holders as per the seat matrix issued by the Government.

TUITION FEE SCHOLARSHIP TO CET CANDIDATES RANK 1 to 10
Last year, as a special offer of the Decennial Year of Father Muller Medical College, the Management of Father Muller Charitable Institutions had offered Tuition Fee Scholarship to rank holders between 1 and 10 in CET. Similarly, this year too, the Management of Father Muller Charitable Institutions has decided to offer Tuition Fee Scholarship to rank holders between 1 and 10 in CET who wish to study MBBS course at Father Muller Medical College. This Scholarship is available to candidates seeking admission at Father Muller Medical College for the academic year 2011-2012, throughout the MBBS course.
