Mangalore: This is a developing city where crime rate is increasing day by day. Late Tuesday evening, in a filmi style, Abdul Rahman alias Puttha, aged around 24, was hacked to death by a gang with swords. The incident happened at 7.15 pm according to the police.
Puttha, just back from a nearby ground after playing with his friends, was cornered by a gang that came in a car. They attacked him with swords and injured his hands and neck. They also dumped a heavy block of rock on his head and he succumbed to death instantly, as per reports.


Puttha, son of Hasanabba, was a resident of Adyar Kannur, Borugudda. He had some rivalry with a few local youngsters, according to souces. It is however not clear whether the murder was connected with rivalry or otherwise.
Hasanabba runs a canteen nearby and Puttha was doing manual labour, according to sources.
It was too late when locals came to know about the murder. A case has been registered at the Kankanady Maroli Rural Police Station.
The body of Puttha is kept in the mortuary in the government Wenlock Hospital.
