Mangalore: The CPI(M) workers staged a protest at the Mangalore Central railway station shouting slogans against the UPA govt here on May 31.
Madhava Ullal, district secretary of CPI(M), alleged that the union government was deceiving the people by hiking the fuel prices in spite of the cost of a crude oil barrel being brought down from $ 124 to $ 116. The government has withdrawn the fuel subsidy of Rs 25,000 crore in the budget this year. He also pointed out that the UPA had burdened the nation with the fall in the value of the Indian rupee to 56 a dollar.

Rubbishing the claims made by the UPA that the oil companies across the country were at losses, he said that according to a report, IOCL in the past 3 months had registered profits of Rs 12630 crore. He strongly urged the state government to bring down the taxes imposed that also are a reason for the hike.
Sunil Kumar and other CPI(M) activists were also present.
