Udupi: Rakesh L Amin aka Rocky aka Raki from Bada Yermal in the district had been one of the accused in the case of a theft in a house within the jurisdiction of the Kashigugga police station in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh a few months ago. He is said to have sold 360 gm of the stolen gold to goldsmiths in Padubidri.

Tracking down the antecedents of the persons, an eight-member team of police led by Kashiguga police inspector C H Malleswaralu and sub inspector K Shantaram, had arrived in Yermal three days ago and kept watch on the movements of Rakesh.

On Wednesday, to ascertain that Rakesh was at home, the team paid Rs 100 to a local person and sent him to his house. Rakesh, who was present until then, got a hint that he was being trailed and escaped.

Now both Padubidri and Kashigugga police are in a joint operation to trace him.
