Sullia: Several household animals have fallen prey to wildlife attacks around Bantamale forest area near here during the past six months.

Tigers are suspected to have killed and taken away a calf and seven dogs from different houses. The latest victim was a dog from the house of Cheemullu Gopalakrishna Bhat.

Residents of the region claim to have heard the tiger's growl regularly but no one has spotted any of them even from a distance. Hence it could be a tiger or a leopard, more than one in number.

A sense of insecurity prevails around and the residents have demanded that forest officials capture them and release them in forests away from human inhabitation.
