Karkala: Theft of valuables worth Rs 3 lakh from a house at Kalya in the taluk has been reported.

Lakshminarayana Rao, hailing from Koppa in Chikmagalur district, has been staying in a rented house at Kadamburi in Kalya village. On June 28, he and his family had locked the house and gone to his native village in Koppa.

Only when they returned on July 16, the theft was noticed. Since they were away between June 28 and July 16, it could not be made out when exactly the theft could have taken place.

Gold ornaments weighing 150 gms and religious silverware items, the total value of which is Rs 3 lakh, have been taken away. A case has been filed in the rural police station here.
