Mangalore: 'Got to Know What Merciless Goons are Like', Says Attack Victim

Mangalore: One of the students who were beaten up by a group of men at a birthday party held in a homestay on Saturday evening has said that from their experience they got to know what merciless goons were like and how they behaved .
He narrated the way in which the group barged into the private property all of a sudden. Without giving scope to talk or to explain, they started thrashing the inmates indiscriminately. He added that the students pleaded that at least the girls be spared, but they too were brutally attacked.
The girls were groped and dragged by the hair, he said, adding that in his and friends' opinion, the assailants were nothing short of being dacoits. They had robbed them of their money, gold and mobile phones also. By the time the participants of the party could recover from the sudden attack, everything had got over and the goons had fled, he said.
He pointed out that all that they had as part of celebration was cake and small drinks. "They created a needless racket calling it a 'rave' party. They don't even know what a 'rave' party is and what it means. We did not have any prohibited stuff around. We were not at fault nor were we indulging in anything illegal. Hence we had not apprehended or expected such an attack," he stressed.
He also made it clear that following the assault, they were not arrested by the police but only whisked away to safety.
He further confirmed that all the students who had gathered hailed from good families and they had obtained permission to attend the party. The girls had not touched any alcohol, while the rest had a small amount of light drinks.
His mother said that she knew all the other students who had gathered at the party and they were all regular visitors to her house and they had food in her house many times. She said she had instilled discipline and values in her son. She demanded that the fingers of those culprits who had molested the girls be cut off.
Another girl said that she was slapped and her personal parts were groped. The assailants practically behaved like animals, she said.
A city advocate is trying to get all the students together to proceed legally against the culprits.

| Please do take action and hope legal and like minded NGO's support the cause. The student community should collect money for the cause and run a sustained campaign to ensure justice is done by keeping the issue live in the media. |

| We are proud of you for coming forth. Please do not stop, fight for your rights. Do not let these goons go without being punished. Do whatever you have to so these useless, worthless human beings get severe punishments. We support you 100%. This could happen to any body if this is allowed to continue |

| I agree with Pratap Chandra Shetty. However the parents and families of all those who were assaulted can come out jointly and tell the world that they are with their children and fully support them and issue a stern warning to the government and the police that if this nonsense on moral policing is not stopped IMMEDIATELY, then the citizens jointly can take up this responsibility and it (the government) and the police would be solely responsible for its consequences. There are more than enough ways to identify such goons and go after them. |

After watching the video one can conclude that this was no moral policing but molestation, robbery, dacoity, assualt and criminal intimidation. Its a pity that not a single BJP MLA has condemned this incident. Neither has the president of Nagarika Hithrakshna vedike condemned this episode.
My head hangs in shame after watching this goondas molest and grope young teenage girls inorder to satisfly their lust and its sad to see Mangaloreans remain mute and look the other way which will only encourage such radical outfits even more. |

| Whatever these attackers did is absolutely wrong. After taking the permission from the parents, these students went to do the party. Who are these culprits to attack specially girls. They came along with journalists over that handled the girls like an animal and within a minute media started putting the news in the TV, showing only youths face not attackers. Now youth should handle them, in the same way how they did. Law and order is there for everyone, but when you have corrupted officers and politicians and parivars , these types of culprits will come and roam freely without any punishment and they will continue their own work with help of someone's money. Girls who are molested should face the world now. What will be their future? Has anyone thought? Over that Wow, these culprits grapped their money, mobiles and chain. It is our Indian culture right? After these we have to roam with chilly powder and spray in our pockets to attack these type of goondas. Why we should keep quite. They have the right to do anything, we are also the citizens of India, we too have a freedom to live peaceful life. Those youths didn't spoil anyone's name nor disturb anyone. Youth be one now and fight for the justice. We are also Indian's and we also know what is Indian Culture. |

Reshmi, good thought. But it is easier said than done. It is a complex thing. All those commenting here from their (possibly) airconditioned offices, suggesting things to be or should have been done, would not dare raise a finger if confronted by such a situation. That is 100% stark truth.
The incident has angered the nation. The outrage is understandable and also overwhelming.
But I am amused by some of the comments posted on websites like 'Hang them, don't give them bail' etc. Whom are they ordering, the website or the police chief or the courts? There is the rule of law, things will take their own course. That could be more frustrating. |

It is not easy to confront the goondas as one may realise.
These people have no education nor jobs, just lot of envy towards more fortunate.
A bunch of eveteasers were thrashed by 2 men in Mumbai last year and we all know what happened. The goons came back with a bigger gang armed with swords and stabbed 2 youngsters to death.
I have personally witnessed in Mangalore couple of years back 3 such goons were thrashed for misbehaving who quickly disappeared but only to return with a bigger gang. |

| Youngsters..it's your mistake. You should have taken swords and other weapons for self protection. If you had hit one or two goondas, then automatically others would have fled from the scene. Don't leave these goons. Teach them good lesson. If possible, parade naked this goondas and their supporters in and around Mangalore to show to the world the result of hooliganism. All students must join together to fight against these goondaism. We had enough of these goons well supported by politcians. We can't tolerate disharmony in Mangalore. If Government is not able to stop all this nuisance, then it has no moral right to continue. Ministers/MLA's/MP's better to wear bangles and sit at home. |
