Mangalore: ' Green Planet' Organized at LCS To Bring Awareness To Save Trees

Mangalore: There were trees on our planet much before the animals and human beings appeared. Everyone knows that trees give us oxygen to breathe, yet we human beings are thoughtless on cutting down trees. To save our planet from disaster, Vanamohotsava is celebrated throughout the country.

In connection with the project 'Green Planet’, Lourdes Central School ( LCS ) has organised flower arrangements colouring and drawing competition for the Kindergarten children.  The importance of trees  were made known to them, through songs, skills and charts.

The grand finale of ‘Green planet’ was celebrated on August 1, 2012 in LCS Auditorium. Rev Dr Victor Machado Manager LCS presided over it. Children of KG1 and KG2 took active part in it and sang various songs with action, to depict “Green planet”. Children of KG2 performed a skit on saving our environment. Sonia Lasrado spoke about the uses and importance of trees. She said “Nature is a gift of God”.

As token of love towards environment, Principal Rev Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves ,and  Rev Dr Victor Machado  exchanged flower plants. They spoke about the importance of trees and encouraged the children to plant more saplings for a greener  planet. At the end, prizes were distributed to the winners, which was followed by the School Anthem.
