Mangalore:  Asha Laveena Lobo nee Serrao, aged 34 years, a nurse at Fr Muller's Hospital riding a Honda Dio (KA 01 EH 4669) met with a tragic accident and died on spot, when a Tata 407 (KA 20 H 6265) hit her vehicle. The accident took place opposite Abharan Jewellers, Kadri here on September 15.

Asha was on her  way to home in Kavoor after finishing her duty at Fr Muller's Hospital at 4 p.m.  When she was riding her vehicle, at around 4.30 p.m,  a Tata 407, trying to  overtake her, hit her two-wheeler from the rear.  Due to the impact Asha  was knocked down to the ground, where she sustained severe head and chest  injuries and died on the spot.

Asha was married to Rajesh Lobo in 2002, a resident of Kavoor and a employee of MCF. The couple has two children, Rishel aged 10 years and Roshni aged 6 years.

According to sources it is learnt that she had internal injuries. Seeing the accident taking place, two women rushed to the spot and tried to help Asha, but she did not respond to their effort.

Speaking to mangalorea.com, Flavian Peris, a social activist said that when he was passing from Kadri side he saw the incident and stopped his vehicle. As soon as he recognized Asha who was the niece of the Parish Priest of St Sebastian Church Fr Anthony Serrao, he put her in a autorickshaw and took her to Fr Muller Hospital at around 4.45 p.m. But Flavian Peris efforts were all in vain, since the doctors declared Asha brought dead. It's nice to note that Flavian acted as a good Samaritan.

A case has been registered in Kadri police station. According to a local resident of the area where the accident took place, most of the vehicles are parked on one lane of the road which makes the road very narrow and very hazardous resulting in accidents. Although it is a two-lane road, and since many vehicles were still parked there ,  made it inconvenience for the rider not go to the side of the road, he further said.

Condolendes to Rajesh and children. God if he is a loving Father, should not have done this. But who are we to question? He has taken away the best flower from his own garden in which we are all servents.

very sad, but good samaritan like flavian do exist.
what is more important is never try to help a accident victim if you have no knowledge about first aid or trauma.
it can create more trouble to the victim.
if its a trauma /accident case then call for medical assistance and help. follow the simple steps.
ABCDE
A- Airway , if its blocked then give a jaw thrust.
B- Breathing, if not breathing then start CPR, 30:2 ratio, 30 compressions and 2 breaths
C- Check for bleeding, apply direct pressure to control and apply bandage and for circulation , just pinch the finger tip and it should turn back normal coulour in 2 secs.
D- Disability, do a complete body chech for any injury
E- Exposure, try to cover the victim with a blanket.
By then the medical help should have been arrived.
A trauma victim can mostly have a broken neck/spine. So dont move the victim without immobilising the neck.

Last few months so many young people have died due to accident around same spot.

Has anything been done to save further lives ?

NO PARKING board should be placed in front of shop PARAMPARA right down to the circle. and fines should be levied.

Also in front of Canara Club, no parking should be allowed and also opposite road next to SB OF MYSORE.

If this is done, then we are some where.

What a time? Precious life is wasted not even in one second. The death of Good people reveals the End of the World. Mangalore is not safe anymore for human life and relatives. Everywhere competitions, hurrying for greed. No calmness and cautious while driving. Everyone wants to win the day. Naturally its not possible. We need to adjust with our Bodily environment. We need to use the technicals and Road Transports for slow and steady development in safe way. No other words. Extremely Grieved.

RIP! condolences to her family members, Reckless driver of tempo should be arrested immediately and not to be released on bail...Such accidents are common in Mangalore unless Traffic police impose strict road disciplinary rules immediately-Arun Pakala, Belman.

My condolences with the family of the deceased. May her soul rest in peace.

Was the driver of the tata407 arrested? there is no mention of this. Was the deceased wearing a helmet? I think we need to find out causes which could have prevented this death and ensure that in future people learn from this incident.

This is tragic. I hope the driver of that Tata vehicle will be arrested and that legal action will be taken. That of course does not bring her back to life. May her soul rest in peace. Condolences to her family.
