| MANGALORE Dec 25: The district jail had a special visitor on Christmas eve. Dancing to the tune of 'Merry Christmas', a little Santa Claus distributed sweets to its inmates.
Christmas programme

This Santa was Denver Pinto, a fourth standard student of Milagres High School. He was participating in a special Christmas programme organised by the Mangalore unit of Prison Ministry, India, a non-governmental organisation.

Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D'Souza and Deputy Home Secretary Nagendra cut a cake and inaugurated the function.
Addressing the prisoners, the Bishop said that reform was possible for man at every stage of life. He urged inmates to ask for forgiveness for wrongs committed in the past and to change the course of their lives, to find peace of mind.

Pledge
District Jail Superintendent C.R. Tallur urged inmates to change their ways after they were released from jail. "Take a pledge today to reform yourselves, for the sake of your families," he said.

Deputy Mayor Abdul Saleem was present. Cultural programmes were also held.
