Kuwait May 7, 2008: The final countdown has already begun for the mega event of Tulu Koota Kuwait with the arrival of guests artists today May 7, 2008. A delegation headed by the Tulukoota Kuwait Managing Committee welcomed the well known music director of Kannada film industry Guru Kiran and his troupe. Gurukiran, said he placed his trust in God, whom he credited for all his success, and was feeling very happy performing in Kuwait for the first time, and was more excited about meeting and interacting with his fan club here.
Rasamanjari 2008 will feature some prominent figures of Kannada music world including Guru Kiran, Shamita Malnad, Chaitra, Naveen Koppa, well known drummer 'Deva' and Mimicry Dayanand. Friday, 9th May 2008 Guru Kiran and his troupe will take the audience on a trip across the seven seas revealing the vibrant music and culture of Tulunadu.
Brief profiles of the artists
Guru Kiran - A well known music director, singer and actor of sandalwood. His name is remembered for his music in Kannada movies like 'A', 'Appu', 'Upendra', Kariya, Jogi, Apthamithra etc. He has given hit music to hundreds of movies not only in Kannada, but also in Telugu. He has won 3 Film Fare awards apart from Indira Priyadarshini award, Udaya TV Award, Aryabhata Award, Gandhi Agar Prashasthi, Suryodaya Prashasthi, Sri Gandhi Award, Sri Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Award, Sri Ballindra Award, Karavali Mutthu Award, ETV Award, Fairone Film Fare Radio Mirchi Award, Chithra Rasikara Award and many more TV awards for his Best Music Direction and Playback Singing. Though he started his career as Singer and Keyboard Performer in orchestras, he rose to heights in Kannada Film Industries and today he is a name to reckon in the industry. He has performed more than 1000 live shows all over the world.
Mimicry Dayanand - He is capable of imitating 73 voices, whereas his aim is unlimited which he is keen to achieve them by his performance. He started his career in film land from "Kaadina benki" and till date he has acted for more than 95 films. He adores the star of mimicry Mr. John Lever and wishes to be recognized as a mimicry artist.
Dr. Shamitha Malnad - She is by professionally Dentist, Cine Playback Singer, Anchor, Dubbing and Voice over artist. She started her singing career as a play back singer in the year 1996 for "Kanive Kabbali" cassette, she has sung in about 3,700 cassettes in 11 languages under the banner of all the leading Audio cassette companies. She entered as a Cine Playback Singer from the movie “Ninagaagi” with the help of No 1 music director Gurukiran. She has sung in about 160 Kannada movies under all leading Music Directors and has presented more than 250 public programmes and live shows. She worked as an anchor in Udaya TV, ETV, Kasthuri Kannada channel.
Chaitra. H.G - In 1993, at the age of 8 she had been given the opportunity to sing for the film "Beda Krishna Ranginata". She has completed 250 songs as a playback singer. She has won the Best Playback singer Award from the State Govt, and also from Udaya TV for the song "Huduga Huduga". She has been a part of Corporate and Provate Performances along side with Guru Kiran, Hariharan, Udit NArayan, Malgudi Shubha, Anuradha Shriram, Shaan and KK.
Naveen Koppa - He is singer and Mimicri Artist and has participated in Orchestra programmes with the playback singers of Karnataka. He is specialized in Master of Ceremony for Light Music and participated in different T.V Channels like ETV, Chandan - National Channel and others.
Devendra Kumar - he is popularly known as Deva (Drummer). He has learned percussion from Shivamani and Shivu and known as one of the very best drummer of south India. He has played drum and percussion instruments for the famous playback singers from Sandalwood and Bollywood and has presented more than 6000 stage shows in past 25years. He has worked in more than 500 movies as Rhythm Composer and Rhythm Programmer. He also has performed in "Fusion Concepts" all over India along with world famous drummers like Bill Cubomn, Shivamani, K.B.George Duke. His other major performances are Olympic Torch Welcome Ceremony, UAE concert, Norway’s Centenary Independence Occasion, Global Fusion Concept with Japanese and afghans’ Musicians.
