Pakistan concerned over growing Indo-US ties

Islamabad, June 10 (IANS) Pakistan has expressed concern over growing strategic ties between India and the US, a day after the two countries signed a number of agreements for security cooperation during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US.

Addressing a conference at the Foreign Office on Thursday, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said the US approaches Pakistan whenever it needs it and abandons when it does not need the country.

“Pakistan will convey its concerns to the US over the latest issues in the bilateral ties,” Aziz.

A high-level meeting is scheduled to take place between Pakistan and the US officials on Friday in Islamabad.

“We firmly conveyed it to the US that maintaining effective nuclear deterrence is critical for Pakistan’s security and only Pakistan itself can determine how it should respond to growing strategic imbalance in South Asia,” he said.

Aziz said Pakistan has decided to take up the issue of Kulbhushan Jadhav, alleged Indian spy arrested in Balochistan, with the UN and other international forums.

He said the statement made by Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA) that no evidence linked Pakistan to the January 2 Pathankot attack in Punjab has vindicated Pakistan’s position in attack probe.

Aziz’s statement comes as Modi wrapped up a visit to Washington as one of President Barack Obama’s closest international partners.

The developing Indo-US relationship is seen as a foreign policy success for the Obama administration.

Washington views India as an important part of its re-balance to Asia and as a counterweight to China, Dawn online reported.

The two countries have finalised various agreements that would make it possible for their militaries to cooperate more closely in the future. Under one such agreement, an American company will build six nuclear reactors in India.

The perpetually oscillating Pakistan-US relationship is once again at low as reflected by the congressional restriction on financing of F-16 fighters’ sale from Foreign Military Financing programme, because of which Pakistan lost the opportunity to buy the jets.

The relationship was further strained when the US carried out a drone strike in Balochistan, killing Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour. Pakistan termed it as a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

  1. It’s not just Pakistaani rats who are worried over growing India-US ties, we have many on Indian side who want to see both India and US fail!!!! There are many groups who silently support Pakistan due to a shared ideology. At the same time, there is another set of bigots (Beef Club) who also want Modi to fail.

    • Lol.. look who is talking about Paki rats. Nobody BUT our Yumreeki RampaNNA who is ONLY interested in some Shareepa, Pakruddina, Paizala, Pawaza, Piroza involved in some petty crime or the other and that too in Mangalore! LoLooool!

Do me a favor. Just google ‘Clinton came to save Sharif from the gallows’. And then, you’ll know who is serious about combating terror! And hey, Joker… don’t give me that crap you dish out to the neighbors – ‘Kaala, stithi, ….. lah dee dah’. Save it for you ya Rampa. 🙂

  2. Sartaj Aziz has to realize that Pakistan has had nuclear weapons thanks to China.

Contrary to some nutty elements in the Pakistani political establishment praising Mohd. Ali Jinnah (a Muslim only in name) and Allama Iqbal, they fail to realize that these personalities are only known in Pakistani and most masses outside this terrorist country have not heard of them. People of their calibre are found by the bushels.

The only famous personality Pakistan has produced was the theoretical physicist, Prof. Mohammed Abdus Salam, who was marginalized by Pakistan because he belonged to the Ahmadi sector. He shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics with Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg and fortunately worked and lived abroad. Another Pakistani I respect is Prof. Pervez Hoodbhoy, who is a nuclear physicist.

I have interacted with many Pakistanis and most of them are braggarts, stupid and have an exaggerated importance of themselves.

  3. Only a naive person will talk about morals and moral high grounds in politics. However, that is not the case. A country deals with other countries not because they necessarily like them, but because they can buy and sell things and services, defence hardware, promote tourism and due to many other factors.

This is applicable also in real life. When A, B or C is a politician, bureaucrat, etc., people feign to respect him not because they admire or think highly of that person, but because of the chair he occupies. In front of him, they fawn him and behind his back, they may say, “That corrupt, s** ********.” As simple as that. Once he is out of that chair, then he is a common man. A typical example being, the President of America. Once he is out of office, he does his own chores and he himself pushes the trolley filled with provisions and foodstuffs for the house. However, being the ex-President, the Government provides him with two or three Secret Service Agents for his protection.

  4. sartaz Aziz has to be intelligent enough to realize that Pakistan is a failed, terrorist and beggar state where most countries would not like to do business with and if aniyone shakes Pakistanis’ hands, then they have to count their fingers to check if they are intact.

Apart from Afghani passport, Pakistani passport is the worst one and they can travel without visa or visa-available-on-arrival to approx. 25 countries and, even those countries, have not been heard of by many people, e.g. Kiribati, Vanutavu, etc. Before reading this, how many of you have heard of these places with quaint names?

  5. Here is something for hindu-hating ‘Beef Club’ members.

Christian man was tortured for unclean religion:

A volunteer priest at a Hindu ashram in Bangladesh has been hacked to death:

  6. Joker Praveena Pinto personifies self-hatred more than his illiterate mindset!!! See how his reactions are always anti-sanaathana, anti-India and anti-US!!! His hatred towards Hindu community is not a surprise and goes long back to his foreign masters who preached the same in a hope to change sanaathana bharatha into something else!! Foreign masters are gone but the self-hating followers still remain. These Beef Club members are a joke.
