Pakistan-born actor sacked for racism against Indians

London, Sep 25 (IANS) Pakistan-born “Coronation Street” actor Marc Anwar has been fired from the soap for a racist rant against Indians on social media.

His comments come days after an attack on an Indian army base in Kashmir killed 18 soldiers. India claimed Pakistan was behind the attack, but Pakistan has denied it.

The Mumbai-based Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has demanded a ban on Pakistani artistes working in India.

Anwar, 45, who plays the role of Sharif Nazir in the British TV show, referred to Indians as ‘b******s’ and ‘p*ss-drinking c**ts’ on Twitter, reports

On his account, he also wrote: ‘Why the f*** do Pakistani artists want to work in f***face India? Do you love money so much?”

He followed that up by tweeting an image of a clenched fist before adding: “Ban #india movies in #PakistanisLeaveIndia. B*****ds p**s drinking #c**ts.

The next targets were Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. In another post, he slammed India and called on Pakistanis to leave it. On Saturday, the actor deleted two of his most offensive tweets, which caused widespread shock.

His comments have been deemed “unacceptable” by an ITV (commercial TV network) spokesman.

“We are deeply shocked by the entirely unacceptable, racially offensive comments made on Twitter by Marc Anwar. We have talked to Marc and, as a consequence of his comments, he will not be returning to ‘Coronation Street’ with immediate effect,” the spokesman said.

Anwar joined “Coronation Street” in 2014 to play the role of Kal’s (Jimi Mistry) father in what was the first Muslim family on the show.

  1. Let’s be clear – even though he uses the term ‘indian’, he is clearly referring to sanaathana dharma followers. Also , these are common slurs used by religious minorities in india against hindus. In fact, we have seen sharia shaikh and joker Pinto repeatedly refer to ‘go mootra’ in their posts. This is not racism as people in south asia belong to same group. This is religious bigotry that sanaathana dharma has witnessed for 1000 years.

Hahahaha! And what do you call a Cow-urine drinker? A (Johnny Walker/Glenfiddich/Jim Beam) drinker? A tippler? Why does it hurt so much? Coz, facts are stated?

And wasn’t it YOU who were the same Joker who had said – “People should have freedom of speech. People should be allowed to make fun of religions” lah dee dah… blah blah blah? Don’t you call others Beef Brigade? WTH bothers with yr rants?

MAN! What a numero uno Joke and joker you are!

  2. Indians are P**S drinking ….????

Perhaps Marc Anwar has not read Bukhari (one of the most trust sources of Hadiths) Volume 8, Book # 82, Shahih Hadiths #796 and note for himself – What was drunk as medicine? and who prescribed it?

Egypt is the largest exporter of Camel’s U***E

  3. Joker Pinto,
There is nothing wrong in pointing out cow-urine drinking habits or child-molestation by priests. But one should also have the decency to point out even more ridiculous habits of a particular community that always enjoys special privilege. This is where you and your beef club don’t have an iota of integrity or decency. It’s so much easier to mock and insult liberal, open-minded religious groups. But it takes real courage to mock bullying religions. Talking about courage – how can I explain the meaning of courage to a group of self-hating individuals? smiles…
