Parliament’s monsoon session to be prorogued: Jaitley (Lead)

New Delhi, Sep 9 (IANS) The parliament’s monsoon session will be prorogued, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Wednesday.

Jaitley said that a parliamentary committee had decided to recommend to the president that the monsoon session be prorogued.

He said that the monsoon session had been stormy due to the Congress, Jaitley said, adding that the GST bill had been delayed because of the Congress.

“We were in talks with the Congress party and they have indicated that their attitude will continue,” said Jaitley.

This was a reference to the efforts that had been made to build consensus on the GST and briefly reconvene the monsoon session to pass the measure. The bill is now likely to be brought in the Rajya Sabha during the November-December winter session of parliament. While the Lok Sabha has already passed the bill, it will have to again do so as a parliamentary committee has suggested amendments to the bill.

“Congress party’s anger seems to be against both the government and the people of India who reduced them to 44 seats. Our priority is growth and and we’ll keep trying that,” Jaitley added.

The monsoon session of parliament was adjourned sine dine on August 13.

Friends, if 44 seat party could dictate its terms to the BJP having single party majority government, just consider the plight of the Congress government having no majority to rule the country for previous 10 years.

Every act meant for the development of the country, like the nuclear deal, the Lok Pal Bill, foreign direct investment were scuttled by the BJP having huge majority in the opposition compared to the Congress now. They wanted to scuttle the Lok Pal bill to depict Congress as a party supporting and protecting corruption. Congress had ***removed all Congress ministers*** whenever there was any allegations and even sent them to jail pending inquiry. They could not do so to such ministers from the coalition partners for obvious reasons. So, the RSS could make the people believe the Congress to be corrupt and bad by stalling the parliament for ten years. People have voted them for that deed! We legitimately believe that the people would repeat it to defeat BJP government too!

What is wrong if the Congress wants to win the next elections employing RSS ‘mantra’ of success? If people had supported the BJP for what they did to harass Congress, the people would do the same to the BJP after some time.
