Parrikar meets Rajnath after Ladakh face-off

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IANS) Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh, a day after a face-off between Indian and Chinese troops was reported along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh.

While there was no official information about the subject of the meeting, sources said the two ministers are believed to have discussed the situation along the LAC.

Tension erupted between Indian and Chinese troops near Burtse in northern Ladakh as the Chinese were reportedly building a watch tower close to the border patrolling line.

Indian troops objected to the construction, which was brushed off by the Chinese side, after which Indian soldiers called for additional reinforcements.

The home minister, meanwhile, called off a visit to Ladakh scheduled for Tuesday. Officials said it was for a meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

A home ministry spokesperson said the visit was called off as there was an important meeting of the BJP on the Bihar assembly elections.

Rajnath Singh is now likely to visit Ladakh later this month.

Meanwhile, a cultural programme — “Learn China, starting from Shaanxi” — to be organised by the Chinese embassy on Monday was also called off.

The embassy said it was cancelled due to “some reasons such as flights, delegation cannot arrive New Delhi on time tomorrow (Monday)”.

Burste is close to Daulat Beg Oldie in the Depsang plain. This is the area that had had witnessed a 21-day-long standoff between troops of both sides in 2013.

Daulat Beg Oldie is a historic camp site and the current military base located on an ancient trade route connecting Ladakh to Uyghuristan, and both Indian and China have their claim on the area.

It also has a helipad and gravel air strip, critical for Indian armed forces.

    • I wonder if Mr B N Pai watches Times now debate any time. What do you think of the poor discussion of Justice Katju with the family of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose? Justice Katju fell flat on his nose in that debate and looked clueless. Any support for the Nehru stooge? [Or the ‘dog on the run’]

      • I wonder if Mr B N Pai watches Times now debate any time. – Dronu Sugam

“Debate”? What debate are you talking about ya, Dronu? Or, are you asking this because “the COUNTRY WANTS TO KNOW”?

That Times Now “debate” is nothing but a shouting match and THE MAN with the LOUDEST voice (you know v well who THE MAN can be) ALWAYS wins!

And as always, THE COUNTRY wants to know even though about 300 million chronically hungry people are worrying about FROM WHERE their next meal will come, and not WHAT it consists of! Right?

And our Joker Rampa assures people – “Trust me”, there is PLENTY of GRASS to eat if people switch over to grass from meat! 🙂

      • Dear Dronaachaaryaa, I have watched that debate. I do not want to reflect on what he said. For, the main point is to know if accusing Nehru of snooping on Subhas Chandra Boses family and associates is justified or not.

Sir, for once consider yourself to be Nehru, for the purpose of knowing what he did and why did he do so.

So, now you are, at that point of time, a hugely popular leader of india. Then, consider the following facts:

        1. Subhas died two years before you (Nehru) became the Prime Minister of the country.

        2. Subhas Chandra Bose’s wife, Emily, writes to the then British government (one year before Nehru became the Prime Minister of India and one year after the air crash) a letter, in which she says she was the WIDOW of Subhas Chandra Bose.

        3. Two years after the death of Bose, you are accused by RSS type of Nehru haters, stating that Subas STILL is alive and you are aiding and abetting against the process of Bose’s return to India with selfishness and fear of Subas.

        3. The Japanese Government, a friend of Subhas, says that Subhas died in an air crash at Formosa and even Emily accepts it. But RSS believes in the stories planted by the British and USA (the opponents of Bose against whom Bose fought). A doubt was deliberately created to vilify you (Nehru) and your party by the RSS.

        4. Now, as a imaginary Nehru, a duty is cast on you to find out if really Subas did not die. If really Subas was alive, one day or other he would communicate with his kith and kin and associates. During that age, there was no way to find out the facts as easily as it is possible now. Intercepting the letters was the only way possible then. If the Nehru administration endeavours to find out the truth by snooping, what you did then was normal. (It is not like Gujrat Govt. of Narendra Modi snooping on a poor Bangalore based girl appointed by him for landscaping at Bhuj, Gujarat).

        5. Now, to brand your (Nehru’s) genuine effort to find out if Bose was really alive (as claimed by RSS opponents) amounts to treating Bose as if he was a traitor or terrorist, is justifiable? As claimed by BJP or by the self styled super patriot Arnab Goswamy, calling you (Nehru) a traitor is just and fair? Tell me, sir.

Also, tell me why RSS controlled Modi Govt. is not publishing these “secret files” hidden by the Congress giving the very same reasons which Congress gave for not publishing them.

RSS and Modi know that when all the files are made public, the depiction of Nehru and Congress as traitors would fall flat to the ground and RSS treason would become public. That is why they do not publish the papers.

Hope, you would frankly and certainly publish your response to this reply.

      • Dear Dronaachaaryaa, the point of concern is to know if Nehru snooped on the family and friends of Netaji Bose, as if he were a terrorist, as it is sought to be made out now. If he did snoop, why did he do so and was there any reason or justification to do so.

Sir, there was a concerted effort by the RSS and its sympathizers to denigrate Nehru in 1947 and thereafter. For that, they told the public not to believe the news from the Japanese government that Netaji Bose died in an air crash. Subhas Chandra Bose was deeply related to Japan. He negotiated with the government of Japan, and tried to march into India with Japanese army in the last period of the World War II. Japan was a friend of Netaji, and naturally, Nehru believed in what they said.

Instead, RSS insisted that the news planted by USA and Britten, both of whom were anti Netaji Bose in the war, that Bose was still alive in Russia or China, was correct. They canvassed to believe the version dished out by Netaji’s enemies in the war. RSS claimed that Japan, Netaji’s friend, was lying! They made a propaganda that Nehru was terribly afraid of Netaji and, as such, he was propagating the falsehood that Netaji had died!

In the light of the above facts please consider the following aspects.

        1. Nehru became Prime Minister of India only two years after his death.

        2. After one year of Netaji’s death, Netaji’s German wife Emily, wrote a letter to the then British Government stating that she was the widow of Netaji and she believed that he was dead and not alive as falsely claimed by the British. The letter is now made public by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benergy.

        3. Likewise, in 2001 Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee visited the ASHES OF NETAJI SUBHAS CHANDRA BOSE AT RENKOJI. He said that he was pleased to visit this place where the ashes of the great leader Bose have been preserved and being take care of.

So admission by Netaji’s wife and visit by RSS leader and the P.M.of India, Vajpayee, only prove what Nehru said was true and genuine.

But, Nehru had a duty to tell the people of India whether Netaji was alive or not. So he snooped on Bose family and friends to find out if they are in touch with Netaji. If really he were alive it would tell the truth. However, he did not insult Netasji by snooping on his people, like snooping on terrorists, as the news channel which you named makes it out be!

At that age of history, snooping was the only means to find out if Netaji was really alive. If Netaji were alive, Nehru would have told the country that he was alive as claimed by the RSS & co.

Sir, please stop giving verdict first and then try to dish out evidence. Please collect evidence and then decide the fact.
