Patel quota stir: Gujarat limps back to normalcy; curfew lifted

Ahmedabad (PTI): Normalcy is gradually returning to Gujarat where authorities today lifted curfew from all affected parts of the state as no major incident of violence was reported for two days after the Patel quota agitation turned violent early this week.

“As no violence was reported in the state, curfew has been lifted from all the parts of the state, where it was clamped on August 25,” Additional Director General of Police (law and order), P P Pandey told PTI.

In Ahmedabad city, curfew has been lifted from all the nine police station areas as the situation remained completely peaceful for around two days, officials said.

However, heavy deployment of para-military forces continued in all the areas hit by violence that had began from August 25 after the leader of the quota agitation, Hardik Patel was detained by the city police.

Ahmedabad District Collector Rajkumar Beniwal said five companies of Army which were called in to control violence will be sent back by the evening today.
“By today evening, we will send back the Army from the region. Now it is not required,” Beniwal told PTI.

“Curfew has been lifted from six police stations areas here including Nikol, Bapunagar, Naroda, Odhav, Krushnanagar and Ramol today,” the city control room officer, A K Desai said.

This decision was taken by Commissioner of Police in the city, Shivanand Jha after no big incident of violence was reported in the city for around two days, said Desai.

  1. So here is the oft-repeated Gujju model.

Patels have been a front for the VHP and RSS in Gujarat for the last three decades at least. Slogan has been simple: remove reservations.

Obviously the storyline began with the intention to weaken the Muslims and make them anti-Congress. Anti-reservations stand as a super convenient excuse.

The momentum was steadily growing. But somehow the avalanche was averted for long because the energies were channelised in making one of them the national leader. Hoping that he would do what they has in mind.

That is how the globetrotter got the mightly push on his rear from the Patels all over. From the motels, hotels, dukhans, everywhere. The globetrotter was flung to the national scene.

“Dekho dekho, kaun aaya! Gujarat ka sher aaya” chanted the hired crowd.

But after getting the push he needed, the globetrotter did nothing for anyone. Except maybe for the 3% Mauritius tax man Adani. But the Patels got nothing.

So the remote controlling masters of the Patel-push have become restless.

No doubt the well-organised mega-protest was timed to coincide with the Bihar elections preparation. To embarrass the globetrotter into quick deliveries. But the globetrotter can’t deliver no nothing.

The globetrotter-friendly national media ensured that the headlines were anything but projecting the ugly side of the Gujju model.

The globetrotter has let down the Patels. The avalanche has started from the home turf.

Now nothing can save the globetrotter.

    • But the globetrotter can’t deliver no nothing. – Mr. Mangal

I beg to differ, sir! The ‘globetrottie’ & his coterie can deliver PLENTY of false promises which never fail to further delude the already delusional masses, spread-out as they are – right from Koppala (Karnataka) to Cupertino (CA)!

And to think that the “Original” CA guy claims to be a man who seeks the truth and NOTHING but the WHOLE truth & believes in rationality! Lord Almighty! He WOULDN’T know the TRUTH EVEN if he walked into it with eyes wide OPEN on a bright sunny day!

So, somebody help ME, God! 🙂
