People cannot dictate how we live our lives: Mark Wahlberg

Los Angeles, Feb 27 (IANS) Actor Mark Wahlberg, who will next be seen in “Patriots Day”, says that people cannot dictate how we live our lives.

Directed by Peter Berg, “Patriots Day” is based on a true incident, giving an account of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings that killed three spectators and wounded more than 260 people.

The film is slated to release in India on March 3.

“People will continue to do bad things, but they cannot dictate how we live our lives. We need to be able to go to a marathon, we need to be able to go to a baseball game, we need to be able to go to the movies, we need to be able to live normal lives and we all have to come together,” Mark Wahlberg said in a statement.

“The people of Boston showed that, in the end, love of our fellow man is always going to win out. That’s why this story needed to be told. And why the film’s positive message should be seen by everybody,” he added.

“Patriots Day” also features Kevin Bacon, J.K. Simmons, John Goodman and Michelle Monaghan.

“‘Patriots Day’ is a film about civic heroism, strength and resilience in the face of evil, a story that demanded to be told. What’s powerful, haunting and disturbing about this event, is that it didn’t happen in the mountains of war torn Afghanistan or a besieged city in the Middle East, but rather on main street US,” Wahlberg said.

The CBS Films and Lionsgate Production is being released in India by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
