Two days PGCET Training Programme for MBA Aspirants held at Sahyadri -“Life is a trade and if we budget our time accordingly, the sky is the limit”- Manoj Rajan

Mangaluru: Manoj Rajan, Additional Secretary to Government (Market Reforms), Government of Karnataka and the Chairman of the Agricultural Market Reforms Committee was the Chief Guest of the inauguration ceremony of the Two Days PGCET Training Programme. Manoj Rajan’s recommendations to bring reforms in the agri-marketing sector is being implemented in the state of Karnataka. He has played a key role in bringing out the Karnataka Agricultural Marketing policy 2013, a first-of-its-kind in the country. As Managing Director and CEO of Rashtriya e-Market services Pvt. Limited, Manoj successfully established “online markets” across 105 APMCs in Karnataka, and as a result became the only state where 105 regulated markets are under the common electronic platform allowing for greater transparency in the price discovery process. He established Rashtriya e-Market Services Private Limited (ReMs), a unique public-private partnership model in the agricultural marketing sector. He has also been a Special Officer (Elections), in the Election Commission of India.

Life is a trade and if we budget our time accordingly, the sky is the limit. He emphasised on the importance of life and time and urged every individual to change the life of others as well. He stimulated participants to do a SWOT Analysis of self since each one is unique which can guide us to set goals for the next 2 – 5 years. He appreciated participants who occupied the front rows and acknowledged that one who dares to sit in front has substance. He encouraged students to work on their career chart, value time and also prepare a calendar for self. He urged every individual to incline the thoughts towards what you want to give, rather than what you want to take. He appreciated participants for their interest in MBA as this course helps in applying the skills into practice. He mentioned that the participants should make the optimum utilisation of the learnings they receive in these two days which will make their life.

An approximate of one hundred and fifty MBA Aspirants from various UG colleges participated in the PGCET training program. Participants had hands on training on subjects like Quantitative Analysis, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning & Proficiency in the English Language which are the part of PGCET syllabus. The participants were immensely delighted with the infrastructure of Sahyadri and the hospitality being rendered during the course of the program.

Dr Vishal Samartha, Director, Department of Business Administration, addressed the gathering and highlighted that this is a community initiative which shall add value to MBA aspirants in making their dreams come true. Prof. Sushma V, faculty coordinator of the programme gave a snapshot on the journey of two days of training. She urged the students to consider this programme as not a mere training but a development programme as the tips and shortcuts learnt during the session shall be of help until the end of life.

Dr Umesh M Bhushi, Principal addressed the participants and shared anecdotes on how things which seem as an overload at the beginning shall be a motivator later on to achieve their goals. During the course of the two days of PGCET training, the participants may have been overloaded with learning materials and continuous training on the main areas of PGCET, however on seeing the PGCET paper, they would find the test very easy, feel it light and come out with flying colours in the PGCET exam.

Session on “Quantitative Analysis” was facilitated by Vivekananda Kamath, Centre Head, Coordinator, Career Guidance, H.R. Manager at T.I.M.E. (Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt. Ltd.), Udupi. He is also a master trainer in Pradhan Mantri Koushal Vikas Yojana.

Session on “Proficiency in English Language” was facilitated by Shirley A Furtado, a Freelance Soft Skills Trainer. The in-house faculties – Prof. Raghavendra Prabhu and Prof. Mithun Ullal facilitated the sessions on “General Knowledge” and “Logical Reasoning” respectively. The training programme concluded with a mock test and rewarding the top three scorers.
