Plaint against actor Balakrishna for making indecent remarks

Hyderabad : A police complaint was lodged against noted Telugu actor and MLA N Balakrishna by a section of lawyers today for allegedly passing ‘vulgar’ comments against women at a movie function, police said.

Balakrishna, a TDP MLA from Hindupur constituency in Andhra Pradesh, is the brother-in-law of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

“We have received a complaint against Nandamuri Balakrishna alleging that he made some vulgar comments against women at an audio release function for a movie held three days ago. We are seeking legal opinion on the issue,” Saroornagar police inspector S Lingaiah told PTI.

Wading into the issue, YSR Congress MLA RK Roja today demanded an apology from the CM and Balakrishna on the issue.

“While the top leadership itself has been pursuing anti-woman policies it percolates down the line resulting in the harassment of women at various levels and such government should apologise to the women community,” Roja told reporters on the eve of International Women’s Day.

  1. What did the Teleugu actor and MLA, N. Balakrishna say? The details should have been given in the press release.

  2. This is a non-controversy. However, in today’s India, everything seems to be blasphemous – thanks to Congress and its minority vote bank!! His comments clearly show that he is one of those fools from entertainment industries. However, a police case? When did it become a crime to be stupid? No matter how stupid he acts, we don’t want joker Pinto to go to prison, we would rather see him in anganawaadi!!!

At 11 am on Friday, February 26, when the directors of India’s largest news agency, the Press Trust of India (PTI), assembled at the offices of the 67-year-old agency in Delhi for a board meeting, it was expected to be the sort of clubby congregation that fatcat media barons have before breaking off for a leisurely lunch followed by a round of golf. Except that it turned out to be anything but. An animated discussion on the Narendra Modi government’s bid to interfere in its affairs broke out and, in the end, there was a show of hands resolving to maintain the agency’s editorial independence. “[Former BJP president] L.K. Advani famously said that when newpapers were asked to bend during Indira Gandhi’s Emergency, they crawled. This time, when PTI was indicated to crawl, it stood up strongly and defiantly,” said a board member, as news of the proceedings leaked.

The deeply embarrassing disclosure of political interference will not go down well with the Modi government, which was perhaps hoping to quietly “control the headlines” in the hinterland of India serviced by PTI, with its own man at the helm. Thanks to a very private rebuff by the PTI board going public, it is unlikely a similar misadventure will be attempted so brazenly, especially with at least 12 of the 16 board members ill-disposed to political interference at a collective level. Then again, with three years of Narendra Modi’s tenure still to go, who is to say what the future holds?

Well, Mr. Murudu Rampai, the above is a NON-controversy too, right? SMiles…

Sheldon Pollock of Columbia University, who heads the translation project created by Rohan Murty, son of Infosys founder N.R. Narayana Murthy, emerged last week in an online petition on the portal Signed by 132 Indian academics, it sought the removal of Pollock as the chief editor of MCLI because of his views which, they alleged, echoed those of “Macaulay and Max Weber”. His previous writings were ‘deeply flawed’, and ‘misrepresented’ Indian cultural heritage, the petition went.

To many academics who had worked with the very erudite Pollock, besides the incredulity it evoked, it was the timing of the demand that seemed dubious. For, the call for his removal came weeks after Pollock supported a statement issued by several US academics (Noam Chomsky among them) criticising the BJP government for handling of events on the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus last month and for generating “a culture of authoritarian menace”.

As one person associated with the project, who thinks the petition is all about publicity and Pollock’s opposition to the Hindutva brigade, observed, “The thing we find rich is that this series was announced in 2009. For six years, not a single person on this list who has signed the petition has bothered to get in touch with us, offered to help or engage constructively. Suddenly, they want to claim ownership.” Apart from rejigging the editorial board, starting with getting rid of Pollock, the petitioners have asked for fair representation of the “lineages and traditional groups” that teach and practise the ‘traditions’ described in the texts being translated (a strong whiff of Brahminism there); that the project must be part of the “Make in India ethos and not outsourced wholesale to American Ivy Leagues”; and that there must be a written set of standards and policies for the entire project.
I’d LOVE to hear our erudite and ARALDITE Rampa’s views on this. 🙂

When a ‘holy’ man meets a holy river, the result can only lead to troubled waters. That’s precisely how things are panning out after Sri Sri Ravi Shankar decided to stage a humongous event in Delhi. The event, the World Cultural Festival—to mark 35 years of Art of Living (AOL)—is expected to attract over 30 lakh followers. Naturally, that requires a massive expanse of land, and the one AOL selected was on the banks of the Yamuna. A team of engineers and construction workers were busy clearing the area and putting up the mammoth infrastructure when the spoilers stepped in. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) sent a team to survey the work in preparation for the March 13 event. The team reported the following:

The entire area from the river to the DND flyover has been levelled flat.Existing water bodies had been filled up, natural vegetation removed and construction debris was dumped on roads being constructed along the margins of the river.Pontoon bridges were being finalised and parking bays were being constructed on the eastern bank of the river, along with 650 portable toilets. The event will take place on the western bank.

An amazing sight hove into view when Outlook visited the site. Instead of private contractors, INDIAN ARMY SOLDIERS dressed in fatigues were busy constructing the pontoon bridges. If a godman can get the army to offer their services, presumably for free, to help him set up access to his temporary mini-city, it is testimony to the clout that Sri Sri wields.

Is this contro or non-contro dear, Rampai?

  3. And to think that our Rampu is more concerned about ‘Judging’ the merits of the case EVEN in INDIA! Or, shall I say – SPECIFICALLY in India? Smiles..

The BIG fishes get through his ‘soopi-eye’. 100% reservation for BJP/RSS stooges!

Poor fella… the journey to El Dorado must have been very tiresome indeed! Poor Tulio.. poor Miguel (both ARE YOU ya Rampal!

No wonder our Rampai is LIKE this ONLY. 🙂

  4. Joker Praveena Pinto always does such a great job of proving what I write in my posts!!! smiles… Once again, I am opposed to criminalizing his stupidity. I would rather prefer educating him!! smiles…
