PM condoles loss of lives in Sri Lanka

New Delhi, May 19 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday condoled the loss of lives due to inclement weather in Sri Lanka.

“Deepest condolences and sympathies at the loss of lives in Sri Lanka due to inclement weather,” the prime minister said in a message.

“We stand resolutely to help the government and people of Sri Lanka. Assistance being rushed on emergency basis,” he said.

At least eight people were killed and over 207,000 people affected due to inclement weather in various parts of the island nation in the last few days.
