PoK is part of Pakistan, J-K will remain part of India: Farooq

Jammu (PTI): Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah today said “PoK is part of Pakistan” and will remain with it while India will continue to control its part of Jammu and Kashmir and claimed that former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had proposed this to the then President Pervez Musharraf.

“I know when Atal Bihari Vajpayee went to Lahore…he told me that he had proposed to Musharraf to take that part and let us keep ours, and let us correct those lines so it becomes easy for people to travel to and fro and trade can flourish, but they did not agree to it,” Abdullah said.

“Today they are agreeing to accept it, but we have to start the dialogue,” Abdullah said. Replying to queries about the reported demand in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) of joining India, Abdullah said it will never happen and the countries will continue to hold the parts of the state under their respective control.

“It will never happen. It (PoK) is part of Pakistan and will remain part of Pakistan. This (Jammu and Kashmir) is India’s part and will remain part of India, you have to understand this,” the NC leader told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

“The only way out is that India and Pakistan should start a dialogue (with each other) and find a way out with that dialogue,” he said.

“For how many years we have been saying that it (PoK) is part of India. What we have done so far, have we ever taken it back,” he said.

On the issue of resumption of cricket ties between the two nations, he said that the situation in this country was such that India and Pakistan had to find a third country to host the series.

He said that war between the two countries will not solve any problem. “We have already fought three wars. Nobody got anything, only people were killed on both the sides,” he said.

Reacting sharply to Abdullah’s remarks on PoK, BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said the statement was against the Constitution and the country will never accept it.

“In 1994, the Parliament unanimously passed a resolution that states if we have any outstanding issue with Pakistan, the issue is about the areas of Jammu and Kashmir illegally occupied by Pakistan,” he said.

“We should get it (POK) back and if anybody says it then for sure he is not saying that as per the Constitution,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed surprise over the treatment given by the TV news channels to his father Farooq Abdullah’s views on Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

“I’m amazed that the channels are treating my father’s views as though they are something he’s never said before,” Omar wrote on Twitter.

Replying to queries on plans of ISI to launch attacks on the Indian side, Abdullah said it was the job of the government to fight them and thwart such designs.

“If they don’t do it then the common people will suffer,” he said. The NC leader said that terrorism was a threat to the very existence of the human race. “If we have to fight terrorism then we have to do it together, it cannot be done alone. Neither India can fight it alone nor can any other country. If we have to fight terrorism then all the countries should unite and fight…only then the human race can survive,” he said.

  1. “The only way out is that India and Pakistan should start a dialogue (with each other) and find a way out with that dialogue,”.

No matter what, there will never be a lasting and genuine peace between Pakistan and India. Though India has made every effort to reach out to Pakistan, the Paki’s have stabbed us in the back all the time, every time.

There are 57 Islamic countries and NOT ONE of those countries are living with peace with its neighbours. All have border dispute’s with the neighbouring countries whether Muslim or non Muslim – the fight must always go as their leaders need to stay in power.

Sir, As long as the seeds of our European colonial divisive tree which sowed in the black history like ‘Palestine’, ‘malaka’ or ‘Africa’ will never have peace.

Today the suffering of most of Africa is the by product of EU and USA. The Middles East destabilization is already started with Iraq,Syria,Libya and now Yemen.

Despite having strong evidence against Assad from UN of ‘Chemical weapons’ use in Syria, weapons of destruction is not subject interest to overthrow the government.

Today the plight of refugee is the byproduct of wars, hunger and suffering. The EU which never expected tide will turn against it.So then comes France attack to stop the flow.

It is world politics. The innocents will pay the price and religions will get blamed.

It is not common man piece Mr.Jay.

Sir,Many commentators and even former military officials correctly suggest that the war in Iraq is primarily responsible for unleashing the forces we now know as ISIS, ISIL, Daesh, etc. Here, hopefully I can add some useful reflections and anecdotes.

“I Helped Create ISIS”: Testimony of An Iraq War Veteran

Examining recent events in Syria and Iraq, I can’t help but think of the small kids my fellow marines would pelt with Skittles from those MRE packages. Candies weren’t the only objects thrown at the children: water bottles filled with urine, rocks, debris, and various other items were thrown as well. I often wonder how many members of ISIS and various other terrorist organizations recall such events?

In the end, wars, revolutions and counterrevolutions take place and subsequent generations live with the results: civilizations, societies, cultures, nations and individuals survive or perish. That’s how history works. In the future, how the West deals with terrorism will largely depend on whether or not the West continues their terroristic behavior. The obvious way to prevent future ISIS-style organizations from forming is to oppose Western militarism in all its dreadful forms: CIA coups, proxy wars, drone strikes, counterinsurgency campaigns, economic warfare, etc.
Meanwhile, those of us who directly participated in the genocidal military campaign in Iraq will live with the ghosts of war.

  4. One can easily see the quality of Madrassa based education by looking at Sharia Pandita’s posts!!! In response to Jay’s post on Islamic countries and lack of democracies, he brings up european colonial rule!!!! First of all, the barbaric, tribal mindset that we see from Kashmir to Morocco predates colonial rule. Also, if colonial rule is to be blamed for everything, what does explain a thriving democracy in countries like India, Sri Lanka, HongKong, Singapore etc? Sharia Pandita needs to stop his ‘taqiyya’ tricks and answer questions directly!!
