Police Helpline 1908 for complaints Against Drug Peddlers
Mangaluru: Drug peddlers being rampant in Dakshina Kannada has led to the youth getting addicted to drugs. The DK police are making every effort to curb drug menace in the district.
A number of murders have taken place in the district and various organisations have been blaming the availability and the consumption of drugs for such incidents. The police department has taken it as a challenge and formed police teams including the Economic and Narcotic Crime and Anti-rowdy Squad to curb the drug menace and crimes.
Since then the police from the Economic and Narcotic Crime and Anti-rowdy Squad have arrested several drug peddlers and consumers. The police department has organised a number of awareness programmes on drugs for students and the general public. Now the police commissioner T R Suresh has urged the public to join hands with the police to curb the drug menace.
Those who have information about drug peddlers or those who find people consuming drugs can call the police Helpline 1908. There is a special section to receive calls to this number and the caller’s identity will be kept strictly confidential.
