Police Raid Gambling Den, 11 held

Kundapur: The DCIB Police on Wednesday, July 6 raided a gambling den and arrested 11 persons including former administrative trustee of Kolluru temple in Kumbhasi near Kundapur. Cash of Rupees 68,000 and other items was seized during the raid.

The arrested are Sajith Hegde Shiroor (48), Rathnakar Nayak Hangaluru (56), Sathish Shetty Heskatthuru (51), Sujana Shetty Chantharu (46), Gowrish Korgi (38), Sujay Shetty Chantharu (44), Karunakara Hegde Yadthadi (50), Jayaram Shetty Hengavalli (68), Ganesh (44), Krishnaprasad Adyanthaya (54) former administrative trustee Kollur Temple, Santhosh Shetty Belve (42).

According to reliable sources acting on a tip-off. A team led by DCIB inspector Jaishanker raided a house at Kumbhasi under Kundapur Police Station limits during the night. Gambling was being organised for the last many months in this house. Locals had complained to Udupi SP Annamalai of the illegal activities going on there, on his instructions DCIB raided the house. When the team raided the place all those caught were found playing cards in the premises.

The arrested persons along with the seized property were handed over to Kundapur Police station for further investigations.
