Porto, July 7 (IANS) Portuguese football club FC Porto offered Spanish side Real Madrid’s wantaway goalkeeper Iker Casillas a two-year contract at 5 million euros (roughly $5.5 million) per season, according to media reports on Tuesday.
Casillas, who has been the subject of consistent speculations about his future throughout the ongoing transfer season, has no objection about the offer, his agent Carlo Cutropia has said, Portuguese press reported on Tuesday.
Porto apparently offered Casillas a two-year contract with an option for a third.
Reports said the amount proposed by Porto represents “the best salary in the history” of Portugal’s football, which the two parties have been mulling for two months.
Casillas, a Real Madrid youth academy product, has spent all his senior career at the club and is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of the world.
The 34-year-old has captained Spain to two Euro Cup triumphs (2008 and 2012) and a World Cup (2010).
