Pramod Madhwaraj failed to address sand mining issues – Raghupathi Bhat
Udupi: Minister Pramod Madhwaraj has failed in addressing the sand mining issues in the district said Former MLA K Raghupati Bhat. If the same situation continues until the end of the month, severe agitation will be held.
Sand mining is effectively carried out in Uttara and Dakshina Kannada districts but in the Udupi district, sand mining activities have been stopped since 6 months. The construction industry is severely affected without the availability of sand.
Minister Pramod Madhwaraj is not interested in solving the sand mining issues of the district. The person who has filed a petition to the Chennai Green Tribunal is an employee of the fish mill owned by Pramod Madhwaraj. If the Minister was concerned about the sand mining issues, he would have urged his employee to withdraw the petition.
Bhat said that during his tenure as MLA he had urged to formulate separate sand mining code to the district, and the process was initiated. The Congress government after coming to power is least bothered to implement the sand mining code.
The subsidy on Kerosene is not provided to the fishermen operating traditional boats. 1300 fishermen operating traditional boats are suffering because of Pramod Madhwaraj’s negligence.
Bhat also said that Pramod Madhwaraj’s statement saying Sri Ram and Sri Krishna were consuming meat has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. The statement appears to be a publicity stunt by Madhwaraj. The Minister might be Ravan and Shakuni who has seen Sri Ram and Sri Krishna consuming meat. Has he got the courage to question other religions?
Chaitra suicide case should be probed by senior officials so that the family gets justice, he added.
BJP leaders Jagadish Acharya, Upendra Nayak, Prabhakar Poojary, Akshith Shetty and others were present.
